Help!! My Norcold DE-728 has died. It lasted 35 years, so no complaints. In my search for a new refer, I have determined that a new Norcold DE-0061/EV0061 will work. However, after reviewing the cutout dimensions, I can not tell if the height dimension includes the black grill at the top in front. Have reached out to Norcold, they will not help. I hate to spend$3,000.00 on a refer only to find out that it won’t fit. If anyone out there has one or knows of one that they can measure, I would greatly appreciate the dimension from the bottom front to the top of the black grill. Thanks!!

Ask Fisheries supply in sea. They list it, but none in stock to measure. But good chance they can answer your question, they have been good for me on norcold.

Frig woes

Thanks, will give them a call.

Thanks, I have the manual with the cut out dimensions. Just needed to be sure that the height dimension included the black grill at the top. Otherwise no go. Just talked to Fisheries Supply in Seattle and they were good enough to measure one for me. Problem solved.

IF the grill on top is to let the heat out , you may have to do some woodwork anyway.

There are fridges that blow the heated air below the box that also may fit.

Frequently an industry will agree on the box size for reefers or ranges so many much newer replacement products will slide in.

My Vitrifrigo was touted as an exact fit...the dimensions checked...various sources agreed.

Showed up and probably a little over a 1/4 inch or 3/8 too tall for the opening.

Thus an afternoons worth of cabinet mods to both the cutout and cabinet above.

While not the end of the world....it took some quick design and cabinetry work to keep looking OK.

Just curious on why you wouldn't just add an inverter and go with an apartment size refrigerator that fits your dimensions. I did that years ago when I had nothing but trouble with my never-cold refrigerator.

When I looked (researched hard)...nothing really fit. They were either much smaller or bigger volume wise, but their shape forced only the much smaller ones that would have restricted anchoring out time.

The "exact fit" made spending the extra money on a marine replacement a no brainer (even though slight mods were required). Plus it looks a lot better on my particular boat.

Many other boats I would agree with going residential.
