That's exactly what I have been doing for the last 17 years with my boat.
Used to do 6 on 6 off when I was deep sea, then went to 5 on 5 off in the off shore industry and now doing 4 on 4 off working the tugs in a remote iron ore port in Western Australia. I can take off and when its time to go back to work tie the boat up and get on a plane and back to work.
Havn't done the foreign cruise as yet as my partner and I both still have aged mothers that require a bit of attention.
But with that kind of roster you get the best of both worlds.
