This may fall under the category of dummest thing I ever did on my boat, but the short story is that the GenAir electric “summer kitchen” grill on the flybridge of our 2005 Mainship 400 got turned on with the lid down. It got out attention when when someone yelled out “your boat’s on fire!” Well, switch off, flames doused and all was cool. The fiberglass lid and cabinet cleaned up and were nicely repaired but two of the grill grates melted and I can’t find replacements anywhere. Any ideas?

Yes, it’s a Jenn-Air electric grill. I have looked at that website in addition to all the others I can find but no luck.

Jeez, that must have been scary. I was cooking on mine last weekend and the thought occurred to me that there was no safety interlock on that summer kitchen lid. I guess you found out the hard way. Manufacturers probably wouldn't get away without an interlock these days.

Yeah, pretty scary for a few minutes but could have been much worse. Unfortunately, the unit is old enough that the grates that fit it are no longer available so I hope to find some used ones
