Hi everyone. You’ve been very helpful in the past and I’m hoping for at least one more time. My 1978 CHB lives in a covered moorage so I need to raise my mast when I leave and lower it before I can get back in the slip. It’s getting harder to lift the mast by myself and am wondering what others do to solve this problem. I would prefer a mechanical solution, one that doesn’t require 12v power.
Thanks, Jeff

Do you have a dinghy davit/crane? I rigged a simple system to let my davit crane do the work - Easy Mast Lowering System

On my 36 GB, I had a large eye bolt fixed to the upper dash with large fender washers as backing plate. Used a block & tackle with locking block on one end. Snap shackles on each block attached to eye bolt & mast respectively. 4:1 purchase allowed even my wife to raise/lower our mast incl. radome. Make sure the mast attachment is a high as possible. Ours actually fouled the Bimini with mast straight but the last 10degrees are easy manually - just pull down on the lines.
Btw, use a thicker line than load requires. 5/16” minimum, 3/8” better as it is easier to grip and pull (though more $)

Thanks. I've also discovered an older thread about this. I'm surprised at all the creative ideas.
