Don't buy any parts for a boat project at Menards, Home Depot, etc. ALWAYS buy marine grade paint, fastners, fiberglass, PAINT,wood, engine parts, (alternator, starter) switches, carpet, flooring etc, etc.

Yeah . . . . well . . . . I agree to a point. 10 and 30 micron filters for our water maker are $18.00 plus tax for 6 of them at Home Depot or Lowes. Recently I went to a "Marine Store in Bellingham, WA, and they were $29.00 EACH! But I'm SURE they would work SO MUCH BETTER than the $3.00 ones from Lowes.

I would amend your post to say "Don't purchase "Marine Specific" parts at Menards, Home Depot, etc . . . . JMHO
