We’ve bought our first boat (other than kayaks), from the original owner - she’s a 1986 Hershine 42’. I’m grateful for the wisdom and welcome of this community. Will try to post photos. Happy boating, everyone!

Congrats and beautiful boat. Many happy voyages. Thanks for sharing

Awesome! Hope to see you out on the water. Nice looking boat. And by the way, welcome to the forum!

Thank you, @slowgoesit and @cheechako! Our maiden voyage (from Tacoma to Blake Island, Poulsbo and back) was great fun and we’re learning a lot. Have a lot more questions and am looking forward to tapping into the wisdom here. Happy boating to both of you!

Congrats - we have a very similar 42' and love it.

Congratulations! Hershine built some tough boats. Keep us posted on your adventures.

I've heard of "three foot-itis", but I guess y'all are over achievers. Kayaks to a 42 footer is a major jump! Congrats! Looks like a nice ship.

I went from owning a canoe to a GB42. Well done, SIR and MA'AM!

Thank you all for your kindness and warm welcome. I’d love to hear more about the Jefferson and any other Hershines out there! The GB42 is a beautiful boat. It’s so good to see you all enjoying your boating lives. I look forward to more adventures on the water, and learning from this community.

Welcome to the forum.

I’ve owned a 37’ Her Shine for about 9 years, good sold boat.

Congratulations! Beautiful boat.. Hope you have many years of enjoyment with her.

Nice boat, curious to your boating experience was other than kayaking and how was your first outing.

We are planning a similar jump although I do have a little experience from about 30 years ago, but not much in the wheelhouse other than watches.

Welcome! Nice Hershine, too.

@CharlieO, my husband had experience 30+ years ago as well, fishing in Alaska during the summers. He has also crewed on sailboats (and enjoys both power and sailing). I’ve lived by the water pretty much all my life, but am a big-boating novice and am learning everything as quickly as possible. We’ve taken two 2-night journeys and everyone has been great where we have moored - friendly, welcoming and even helping with lines. So far, so good! We’ve stayed at two State Park marinas and one town marina - great experiences. I would like more instruction about “what’s under the hood,” but summertime is not a good time to ask for tutoring - the mechanics are on their own boats, and they deserve the time off! So I will learn as we go and ask questions in the winter. Best wishes on your search - there is a lot of knowledge on this forum!
