It was very near ticking my boxes until I saw the engines
Why oh why does it have such stupidly large motors

Very nice boat!

This was a very common engine in Hatteras of this era, 60' and over.

They're dirt simple....using almost all 6-71 components except block.

Smooth as silk, non electronic, serviceable worldwide.

Sunnfjord 42 Pilothouse

New to us as of Aug 1. Got the 9000 hr 3208 out and getting ready for a recon 6btPXL_20230929_213343756.jpg

When we were in Alaska this boat was being fit out for fishing 20 miles offshore. It's a converted sailboat ... I think.

As a schooner, the thing missing off its nose would be a bowsprit. However, as a motorboat it would be a big-arse ramming rod like in Verne's Nautilus. Maybe sail down to Venzuela and start ramming some pirates!

Not sure if it was there and I missed it, but what length and beam? Beautiful boat!

Never mind, I found the specs in the previous posts . . .

Look at the price. An example of how badly wood, even excellent wood, is undervalued. A stout well designed and executed vessel going for short money. If it was in grp it would be multiples of the ask.

Purpose built for O Summers to be an escort for the 1972(?) Vic/Maui sailing race. Owned by a VG friend for several years in the 90s. Many summer trips rafting alongside until he moved up to a bigger woodie. Looks like she is still a great boat.

My take on that Wilmington boat: it’s a big piece of homemade “stuff.” Make him an offer of $75k and then it might be worth the ownership.

You never know what someone thinks their things are worth...
I agree. I think the price is to high as well. If I had the money to even consider it, I'd probably have the money to live aboard and cruise year round. I can telecommute. :socool::rofl:

Greetings,
Mr. b. I think the photo you posted is the "before" picture. Really scary ones in the link in spite of the fact she looks like a stout vessel.

Also I’d remove the homemade Jules Verne ramming horn in front. I would seriously doubt it improves performance in the manner which a bulbous bow is designed to work.
