I’m new to the world of trawlers. Living on the Magothy River and the Chesapeake Bay, I’ve had boats most of my 68 years.
We traveled the Bay for about 8 years in our Searay 340 express cruiser until the kids decided they had other interests. Now we fish and cruise in our Grady White 282 Sailfish.
My wife wants to return to the cruising lifestyle so we are under contract for a 2005 Mainship 400 with less than 500 hours, pending surveys and a sea trial.
This all reminds me of the trepidation I felt several years ago when we bought a 35’ Tiffin diesel motorhome. Simply stated, I have a lot to learn. Fortunately I am good at listening to those who know more than I.
Cheers!

That boat should be in good shape and ready to rock! When is the water test?

Have fun!

Thanks! Pretty soon - just starting to herd the cats for survey and sea trials. Hoping for next week.

Hope to see you out there. I'm in Middle River. This is my first year with my 47' Marine Trader. Have to get to going in the slow lane... but comfortable.

Have fun with it. We've owned our Mainship 400 for 20 years and lived every minute!

Glad to have you aboard.

You have scored big time on the most important thing:

"My wife wants to return to the cruising lifestyle..."

Finding a woman who wants to live the cruising lifestyle is the biggest challenge.
Treasure your success.

Welcome.
Our daughter lives in Severna Park on the Magothy and we are often visiting
We have our boat on the Sassafras.
I'd suggest that you might be interested in joining the MTOA (Marine Trawlers Owners Association) an active group of cruisers on the Chesapeake. Good group to cruise with and garner knowledge (mtoa.net).
Contact me (PM) and I'd be glad to offer my assistance on anything that comes up for you.
Bi%best thing, have fun.
