Ahoy TF,

I'm hoping to get some help identifying a Borg Warner gearbox I have on my 36' Grand Mariner trawler. Unfortunately, the information plate is missing, so I don't have the model or serial number. I'm trying to get some details to figure out parts and maintenance options.

Here are a few details I can provide:
  • Gearbox make: Borg Warner
  • Attached to Ford 120 Lehman 2715E
If anyone could help identify the gearbox model or suggest any ways to narrow it down, I’d be very grateful! Also, if there are certain markings or areas I should inspect closely for hidden identifiers, please let me know.

Thanks in advance for any advice or guidance!

I think 10-04 was Velvet Drive 70 series. The remaining digits are further descriptors.

A 10-04 looks up as a Velvet Drive 71C v-drive, but yours doesn't appear to be a V-drive. It's almost definitely a 71C of some variation though, just a question of what gear ratio and other things.
