Good plan Kevin. Heading back to Coral? If so, staying there until next October? If so, might see you there. Bien Viaje! Ross and Juli Macdonald MV Boppy's Star

I had a good lobster experience at Santa Maria in October 12 years ago. I traded a $2 headlamp with batteries for 13 lobsters.

Very nicely done! We were watching you on Predict Wind AIS. How were the sea conditions between Isla Cedros and there?

Thanks for the pictures - looks to be plenty of space? I suppose it may be rented and the boats are away…

Bravo Zulu Kevin...After you get settled walk over to B dock and find a 60 Hatteras enclosed bridge sportfisher named Pilar. It was our boat for a long time and is now owned by a guy named Jose Suarez. He keeps it there year round and knows everybody and everything there. Also fluent in Spanish. I believe he has some good local guys who work on his boat. Anyway, say hi for me. Should be a warm summer there in Coral. Also say hi to Fito for us. Ross and Juli Macdonald MV Boppy's Star

Did you make the passage by yourself, or is your companion still aboard? If alone, that is some long passages solo! We'll be heading South end of August, and it looks like just the three of us. It will make for some long watches. . .

Between Cedros and the coast, the first lets say 15 hours were very difficult.
The wind as measured on my wind instrument topped out at 38 knots minus my 8 knots of speed.

The seas were between 2 and 3 meters, and the angle was difficult. I was not able to hold course so decided to tack back and forth rather than let myself be blown offshore.

Once I got to San Quentin things mellowed out and it was a pretty decent trip.

We left Turtle Bat at 10:00 AM on Monday and arrived at Ensenada about 10:00 Pm on Tuesday night.

I am very safety conscious, and will not drive overnight alone. For me the risk is not acceptable. On my entire journey from Alaska I made one 20 hour run alone and will do anything to avoid that again.

Making this trip solo would require a commitment to anchoring in less than ideal locations. The problem is not just the distances. The problem is a combination of distance and the lack of availability of fuel. I casn shorten the hours needed by adding speed, but I cannot do that unless I have fuel available.
