Davit Crane
$3,000
Produced by Pacific Fabricating in Anacortes. I bought this (WAY ahead of myself) intending to put in on our trawler for winching our dinghy to the aft deck, but we’ve decided instead to keep our dinghy on the existing transom davits and store kayaks on our aft deck.
This crane has a 12v DC powered winch with metal cable for up and down – the arm is intended to stay fixed in position.
Additionally the stainless steel tip of the crane arm has several positions (shown pictured all the way in) to fine tune its length.
Moving the crane on its axis (to “spin”) is manual. It mounts on a large roller thrust bearing on the base.
The crane is marked with a warning sticker with 1,000 lbs capacity.
It has two stainless steel support arms to set its fixed height (and therefor extension/reach).
It comes with a spare winch motor. We can demonstrate the winch motor and control work, we have tested it with a deep cycle battery. As noted above, we purchased this crane used and have never installed it in our boat.
It’s likely that unless you are lucky, you will have to have the mounting base modified to fit your boat, as the collar was welded to a particular angle for its original installation. This is a very well built davit crane, fabricated from aluminum with stainless steel hardware. While you can see the sticker/decals have faded, it appears in good working order. Work to customize the base post to your boat will require cutting/grinding/welding to reset or replace the collar on the base post. It appears the business that built the crane still exists but may be under new ownership. (Now possibly Pacific Marine Fabrication LLC.)
Included in sale:
- Crane main body
- Crane mounting post/support (with bearing)
- Spare SS support arm for adjusting fixed height
- Picking hook with pulley
- Up/down control
- Reversing solenoid set
- Reversing winch motor (installed in crane main body)
- Spare winch motor
The wires shown in the photos of the relay are some we used to connect/test the relays/winch motors, and are not necessarily marine suitable; we also have a paired 40a circuit breaker set that came with the crane. A few more photos in a following post....
This is available to view in Mount Vernon, about 25 minutes east of Anacortes.
