Brower/Steelhead Marine WD1000 Parts

I have a WC1000 that came with the boat. Somehow the nylon shims/spacers/bearing at the head of the ram went missing before I bought the boat. I discovered the problem when metal shavings started coming out. Disassembly revealed the nylon cheek plates on the hook end of the ram are missing.

Anyone know where parts may be available for this ram?

I believe the manufacturer is out of business.

I hope you can see the pictures to get an idea of what evil lurks inside my WD1000.

If parts are not available from the mfgr. then from what I see it would be relatively easy to make new ones by someone versed in simple fabrication.

If what I see is decent then it could be done on a table saw and drill press.

There may of course be something I can't see that might be best done on a milling machine.

THe damage done to the arm inside would not likely be a problem. You just may need a spare set of cheek plates and replace them every bunch of years.

Your local boatyard may know of a decent fabricator. Any boat railing and boat rigging fabricators around your area? They often need to be able to do simple fabr. jobs.

I slid the boom off of the linear winch, cleaned the metal shavings from the ram and the inside of the boom. I adjusted the position of the hydraulic ram a little closer to center. Then per the suggestion from the original manufacturer, greased the "cheek plates" and reassembled the unit.

It's worth a try. I will update once I use the crane next outing.

Steelhead Marine WD1000 looks like a nice replacement if it comes to that.

I don't you know if this is going to be of much help. Recently heard that steelhead in British Columbia Canada had moved or they were taken over by another Crane Company, and that's a as much as I know from what I remember ,parts are still available in British Columbia area, through a different company. Sorry but that's all I can give you, just had a brief conversation with someone that ring a bell when I saw your problem.
