Yes, it is hinged at the rear. You may need a knife or small flat blade screw driver to start it. Or pull the coils and insets and lift by the burner holes.
I have a gas-propane stove and so far I’ve not found the proper way to lift the top. Looks like an easy job... but I couldn’t find the directions online..
On most models there are two retaining clips that need to be released. With a bright flashlight and very small screw driver it is easy enough to do. The clips are located on each front side.
