Having done the trip (the other way) from PNW south through the canal then up through the Gulf to the east coast, if we were going to reverse the course and return to the PNW, we would definitely ship the boat back via freighter. Less cost, less wear and tear on the boat and a lot less time...

Interesting thread, to say the least. This might require starting a new thread, but it would be interesting to find out how many of the members here on the site are actually out cruising or have cruised extensively in the past? Might have to actually define cruising to get that information...

32 a day? That’s an amazing reduction. When we transited a few years back there was literally a hundred or more boats (maybe more) a day going in both directions. Our AIS was lit up like a Christmas tree. This has got to impact shipping significantly!

I sure do miss the boating life and our Pairadice has been sold again. Hope they take good care of her.
