    Replacing Kitchen Sink

Sink replacement I checked our local used bldg materials store and found a great SS Sink for $35. It was the size I wanted and a single. I had to buy the clips to hold it in place too. The existing faucet was almost new so it stayed. I enlarged the existing cutout to fit the new sink.

    New galley cabinets: Californian 38LRC

Good thoughts on proper venting of the refrigerator. That was a design consideration which was handled in the following manner. - The heat transfer coils and motor at the rear of the refrigerator remain exposed. - The unit sits on 2" of rigid foam on a platform. The platform has a ~3.5" tall...

    New galley cabinets: Californian 38LRC

Over the winter I replaced the cabinets in my 38' Californian LRC. Design Goals: - 2" of rigid foam around refrigerator to improve efficiency. - Eliminate cabinets doors which required getting on the floor to access stored items. - Make silverware drawers deeper so spatulas wouldn't get caught...

Standard Horizon GX-6500 AIS Class B, Etc Radio

The manufacturer could be experiencing some design/technical problems. When you co-locate transmitters and receivers it is a real challenge to achieve necessary electrical isolation. That's to say pesky signals are radiated inside the unit and sneak in to places where they can result in havoc...

    Silting in Petaluma

Photo of Petaluma Turning Basin Yes, Petaluma Yacht Club did cancel their Memorial Day Event. There is a very low tide that weekend and water depths were expected to be in the range of 18 inches. Attached is a photo taken this weekend showing the extent of the silting.

    Silting in Petaluma

The winter storms of 2016-2017 have had a very negative impact on the Petaluma turning basin as well as the marina. Water depths in the Turning basin are 18 inches to 3 feet max at low tide. Boats in the Petaluma Marine are also finding they are sitting in mud during much of the tide cycle...

Original Gen Set 1980 Californian 34 LRC

Onan MDJE 7.5kw My Vessel originally had the MDJE. I agree that it had poor social skills! (well put). I no longer have the manual, but I believe it's output in single phase 110v mode was only 3kw. My memory is that it only delivered 7.5kw in 3 phase 220v mode..... Consequently, I found I...

38' Californian with similar issue I have a 38' Californian trawler which has a similar problem. The rear cabins on both our vessels are pretty much identical. Symptom: - Annoying low level leak. Less than a gallon or 2 a day. - No evidence of leak around inlet or outlet. - Used bore...

    Homemade LED Light Fixture

FlyWright's Lights Al, Good job on converting those original lights. By doing so, you retained their superior bug collection properties. A feature I dropped in the design I implemented. It would be great to cross wakes again this year. I'll have more time as I have left the world of 9-5...

    Homemade LED Light Fixture

Recently I replaced all the original 1978 light fixtures in my trawler with LED Light fixtures. This has reduced my energy consumption for lighting by 75%. Each fixture consumes ~.3 amps as opposed to the 1.6 amps the old ones required. This is a fairly easy project and requires no special...
