    Fuel discharge experience

I didn’t see if you reported the incident to your insurance company. I would suggest you do report the spill to your insurance as soon as possible. Invoices and fines may be issued from the various agencies involved; from local fire to USCG. Sometimes the invoices and fines take months.

    GB Stem Thickness

An eyebolt exists in your chain locker already. Also, it’s probably best to tie a rope line to the bolt inside the locker and extend it to the deck. Then splice it to the chain. That way you could cut the rope in case you have to move under emergency conditions.

    Fuel tanks

In possible defense of the surveyor, it’s possible the fuel tanks are inaccessible or enclosed in a FG compartment in the engine room. Thus, the surveyor is unable to determine the fuel tank material.

    key reproduction

I have a 1986 GB42. The original lock and key in 1986 was manufactured by Legge, a company in the UK. I found that an “Ilco 62LG” blank works for key duplicates.

    Thicken Epoxy

Please forgive me because I know very little of such repairs. However, wouldn’t proper preparation and a layer or two of fiberglass work better?

1968 GB42 teak deck removal help

The teak deck on a GB woody is a lot thicker than its younger glass siblings. I have heard the deck was designed as an integral structural component. I would be reluctant to remove the deck. Can the deck be renovated; refastened, plugged and re-seamed?

    Navionics Advice?

Our Navionics app will freeze up also…until we move the iPad around. Frustrating! Haven’t been able to find out why. That’s why we switched to Aqua Map.

    Custom Scale Model

This model of our boat was made about 12-14 years ago by Captains Models out of Oregon. I believe the owner died shortly after my order. His sons finished the existing orders and shut the business (I believe…hope I’m wrong).

Would you go with 3 feet of clearance?

We boat in shallow water frequently in the California Delta. We calibrate our sounder to “depth of keel”. Makes sense, to us. We don’t want to perform mental arithmetic in stressful places.

    How to ID owner

Coast Guard should be able to help. In years past, we could enter the name of the boat and get the documented owner, address, number, etc. Us commoners do not have that info at our fingertips now.

    Potable water

    ShakeDown cruise from hell

Our Trawler Forum friend, Simi 60, has a by-line that says, “Everything on your boat is broken. You just don’t know it, yet”. I laughed when I first read it way back when. Over the last 15 years, it’s not funny any more. It’s true…
