    Does lube oil go bad?

I wouldn’t worry about that. The FAA makes you put an expiration date on EVERYTHING. Shake and pour…

Life and Dreams Change, Prairie 29

So sorry to hear of the passing of your parents, and subsequent loss of your desire to cruise. I am a brown water boater that resides on Lake Barkley near Eddyville. These lakes and rivers are intriguing to me still. I grew up in Louisville (lots of fun on the Ohio) but with parents from Paducah...

AC for 2000 Mainship Pilot 30

Ahhhh, my bad. They ARE great on land. I just installed Daiken in my shop. I’m very pleased though it would be tight on a MS Pilot 30. Mine doesn’t have near enough electrical capacity either…

AC for 2000 Mainship Pilot 30

If you are referring to what’s on my boat, it has seacocks and strainers.

AC for 2000 Mainship Pilot 30

On my Pilot 30 the a/c unit (reverse cycle) is on the port side under the breaker panel next to the steps. Under and a little aft of the stove. A previous poster is correct it would be a b*&,% to run the duct hose.

Sorry… please don’t apologize for your English. At least you speak more than one language (unlike me).

Not a turbine but a piston engine.

NTSB: Undertorqued Bolt Caused $3.8M in Damage Aboard WSF Ferry

Not to armchair quarterback, but it looks like poor workmanship. Considering they found a cigarette lighter in the oil during the test run. I bet the mechanics doing the overhaul all get a wizz quizz. (Drug test)

    Finishing high school while cruising?

I feel your pain. I have 2 daughters both in their thirties now. The younger one has had similar issues, and is still trying to find herself. I agree with Mr RT on all points, but would add don’t give up! As for finishing school while cruising, that sounds great if your son is interested. You...

Woman's 911 call from a mile away rescues 3 fishermen

Yes, it is a crazy story. It just goes to show that if it’s not your day, it’s just not your day! As for the social media. The only one of the venues that most people refer to as social media that I have a prescience on is facebook, and I don’t post. My union local (an ALPA union) posts news...

    Windlass on Pilot Mainship 30

Don and Comodave, Sorry Dave thought you had a pilot hard top. I think I probably meant 8 plait. Unfortunately shipping for all that chain would probably be prohibitive! Bill, 90% of the time where I will be anchoring will be in 30 feet of water or less. There is one place (the “party cove”...

    Windlass on Pilot Mainship 30

Thanks, Rich. Your setup looks a lot different than mine. I think that you are correct in that a horizontal windlass will be best. Unless someone chimes in with a radically different approach, I will probably modify the locker for mor depth. Looking at your signature line I see you have a Pilot...

    Windlass on Pilot Mainship 30

These questions are directed mainly at owners of, or others with experience with Mainship Pilot line of cruisers (such as Rgano and Bacchus). A couple of years ago I posted that I was thinking about a windlass on my Pilot 30. The Admiralty has approved the budget request and I am preparing to...

    Pilot 30 shaft log/dripless location

To adjust the packing, the PO made an extra long extension (though they can be purchased that long as well) that will reach the nuts from underneath the cockpit sole. It reaches under the tank. It’s about three feet or so long. I store it in the engine compartment next to the freshwater tank
