Yes I’m confident in valve adjustments I’ve done it on my 68 with 454 . I setup the timing as stated earlier it’s correct. I think it’s loss of vacuum due to a broken gasket at the carb base. Got one on order.

I’ve adjusted the distributer while someone was turning over the engine, she still won’t start. It’s odd because the engine ran great with blown head gasket

I recently replaced the head gasket on my starboard engine and now I can’t get it to start. She turns over but never fires. I have checked the spark at plugs and it’s good. Removed all plugs so I could turn the engine over and removed valve cover to the number one cylinder then I rotated the...

    Gas Tank Help

So I’ve talked to the Coast Guard in Maryland and Corpus Cristy and they do not regulate Recreational Boats only commercial boats. I also talked to my surveyor and he stated it must meet ABYC requirements ! But is that requirement for multiple tanks to replace one? I also contacted ABYC and the...

    Gas Tank Help

Gas tank confusion I am talking to my nieces husband who is an engineer with the US Coast Guard and he tells me there is no regulation against putting ports at the bottom or near the bottom or the sides of a tank. He also states it would be easier and better to pull the engine to replace the tank

Yeah I talked to the US Coast Guard in Corpus Christy and they said they don’t make that call. I will continue to find answers. Thanks everyone for your input. I may need to pull the engine and put what I can in there that way.

    Gas Tank Help

Gas tank woes Thanks Pete for the input. It was easy to determine if fuel tanks were empty, I used a dip stick in the tank and it came up dry then I connected a vacuum to the inlet and opened the gas lines to provide air to the tank. I could not smell any fumes coming from the tank. The fuel ...

    Gas Tank Help

Ok people I have read through the ABYC regulations on fuel tanks and I see nothing stating you can’t have fittings down towards the bottom of the tank. So if anyone knows what section or page number says this please let me know. Thanks to Wallace and Sharon Gouk for supplying the ABYC...

I used Paint to make my diagram. It’s primitive but comes with windows so I already had it. You could get a copy of Autocad but I’m afraid the learning curve would be too great

How often do you need your lower helm?

I have both and for visibility I use the flybridge exclusively, No one I know has ever piloted their boat from the lower helm unless your in a nasty environment! To me it is a waste of space. Just my take on it

    Sea Doo for a Dinghy?

Well that would be a trade off between swim platform or jet ski ... I want access to my swim platform that’s how the girls in the water access the boat ! ?

    Sea Doo for a Dinghy?

Weight is the main factor and how you plan to use it ? You can’t just throw a jet ski up on back of your ship like a featherweight. I have an aft cabin and would need a lift to get a jet ski up on her and then it would take up too much of my party lounging area... Just no good
