Report them If the company is a Furuno dealer report them to Furuno. I would also consider filing fraud charges against them.

    Dog crates on boats

Dog crate We’ve used a crate with our 16 year old dog for years. She’s very comfortable in there. We recently got 2 puppies and they will also be crated. Far better than allowing them the ability to roam around and get into mischief. I do believe most dogs like being in a crate as long as...

    Engine Room Cameras

On board cameras I have several Raymarine cameras on my boat including one in the engine room. I decided to add some additional cameras to allow me to view remotely. Since I had several Ring devices at home I decided to add some on the boat. They all use 120v service. They work great...

    $24 pump out? What?

There is a pump-out boat run by the local River Keepers Association in St. Michaels which runs on weekends and comes to your slip. They accept donations. I usually pay them $20 to help support their efforts. I never paid more than $5 at a marina for pump-out.

    refinishing caprails varnish or awlgrip?

Caprail Hello Kindred Spirit. Two years ago I stripped the caprail on our Krogen 48 down to bare wood and applied multiple coats of Awlwood MA clear. With one exception, it looks as good today as when I finished the original refinishing project 1 1/2 years ago. The exception was around the...

A newbie taking a new boat 1500 miles?

Two comments. Make sure you can get insurance coverage with the jump up in size. Some companies are being a bit more restrictive these dates when you jump up in size. As suggested elsewhere, it would be good to hire a delivery Captain to go along on your trip north to provide training as you...

Will it be too late to leave Maine?

Another option to consider. Could you possibly hire a Captain to transport your boat part way, say Norfolk, Va and you take it the rest of the way when able to finish the journey? It would be less risky and worth the expense.

    Wireless Cameras

I have a hard wired Raymarine Camera in rear of engine room which I can monitor from pilot house. I installed a Ring wireless camera forward in the engine room which allows me to monitor from anywhere on my phone. Both work well. The Ring device is much cheaper.

    Weather "Window" Advice Needed/Wanted

You definitely don’t want to travel in the conditions you described. It would be brutal. I know because I have experienced that a couple of times on the Chesapeake Bay. If at all possible avoid winds coming from a northerly direction. Winds out of a southerly direction are much better...

    Isn't boating an essential activity?

What’s the logic? In Maryland going for a cruise in your boat isn’t permitted. However, you can go in your kayak because that’s exercise. What if in the first instance, you’re a water skier. Granted its a bit cold right now, but that’s exercise. Also it’s permissible to go on a chartered...

    Annapolis in the Summer?

Take a look at Herrington Harbor in Deale. There are actually two marinas there. Herrington North and Herrington South. I believe a North is quieter. If it were me, I wouldn’t go to the Potomac River as the cruising is less ideal than the Bay. Another option is to spend a month at one...

    Bright Work Cost?

I received several quotes on a 48 Kadey Krogen to strip down the cap rail and paint with Awlgrip product. Prices ranged from $18-20,000. Ninety percent was fro the prep work. End result, I am doing the job myself.
