    Upgrading electrical on my boat.

Totally agree... The Victron systems are good but find a good dealer. They have many adjustments and options so one has to really know what to do. We recently installed a water maker on a system using the Victron inverter and found the output dropped to 102 volts under load. A simple...

    Upgrading electrical on my boat.

Re: Inverters...Your Hatteras is likely a 220 volt boat with two 110 volt legs. There are a lot of 110 volt only inverters out there so make sure you get a 220 volt inverter. We just worked on a NEEL Trimaran that was 110 volt only, so his Victron was 110 volt only. The owner was sure he had...

Don't forget a fresh water line with a carbon filter to the water maker so it can be flushed.

    Need Snowbird Advice

Mooring vs docking We stayed in Jacksonville, Florida in the St Johns river. There are many marinas in that area and if you are careful about your choice, you'll be able to walk to restaurants and shopping. There were always a few boats moored in the area, but were almost always a problem...

    Inverters

We use AIMS. Pure Sine Wave and easy to work with. It does not have all the bells and whistles of the Victron but they get the job done. We've installed them on several larger yachts (50-70 ft) with no issues. https://www.aimscorp.net/

89 carver Californian 48 water leak

check valves in bilge lines I have four bilge pumps that pump water directly overboard and none have check valves. I was planning to install check valves, and even bought them, but a couple people told me that was a bad idea. I think I'm going to install them to stop the water from coming in.

89 carver Californian 48 water leak

I wonder if this issues was ever resolved. I have a 1989 Carver Californian that is 48 f. I too get water in that area only after running the engines, and sometimes get exhaust fumes in the engine room. I suspected a leak in the exhaust tube but I had it inspected by two reputable local boat...

89 carver Californian 48 water leak

Wet Exhaust Funny thing is we noticed the water before the odor. The exhaust gases seem to stay in the engine room...(that we can smell), but the water is there every time we run the engines.

89 carver Californian 48 water leak

Wet Exhaust leak Thanks Capt Jon, I will inspect the clamps tomorrow. Are there rubber hoses connected to the exhaust muffler then run through the fiberglass tube or do they just use the fiberglass tube. FYI... it's a Carver Californian that I believe was built in the Hatteras plant during the...

    1990 Californian 45 Wiring Diagram

Electrical diagrams If you think those diagrams would be applicable to a 1989 48ft Carver Californian, I would love to have a set. Is there a way to make that happen?

89 carver Californian 48 water leak

Exhaust hose change I know this is an old thread but I have the same issue. However mine only gets water in there when I run the engines. That leads me to believe I have a wet exhaust hose leak. I also get exhaust fumes in my engine room when running the engines and that brings me to my...

    washer dryer

We are looking to install a washer and dryer aboard our boat. We live on the boat full time and are just tired of laundromats. Unfortunately the location in the boat that is already setup for a washer/dryer combo is pretty much inaccessible due to the extremely narrow hallway leading to the...

    48' Navigator - Thoughts / Pros / Cons

We're looking at Navigators in the 48 ft range. We will live on the boat and want to cruise the Caribbean as far south as Grenada. Is this a boat that do that kind of cruising. I'd want the boat to handle 10 ft seas just to be safe.
