Awlcraft usage
The Awlwash concentrate goes a long way - I'm on my second container going into year 17 with this boat. The Awlcare gets used up quicker - but it's a smaller container. Still one bottle lasts for 2 or 3 years.
Blue Mainship
We have a 2006 Pilot 34 - dark blue - which we bought in 2007. Other than a few bits of dock-rash the blue looks great.
For first 8 yrs we had it at Port Credit Harbor Marine and then had it trucked to Bay Port in Midland.
We follow Awlcrafts recommended procedure -
Each...
8D Replacement
Last year I removed and replaced the 2 8D batteries in our Mainship Pilot 34.
Used the same method as the prior swap, 8 years earlier. And the same Crown wet acid batteries.
The batteries are reached via a hatch in the cockpit. Using a plank (2x8 -6 ft long) I can slide a...
Glad to see Solstice in the water and floating on her lines! Truly an amazing story!
And really glad to see that you survived difficult times. Keep well.

Have the same "dipstick" discrepancy!
I have easy access to both sides of the engine (it's a single).
I check the stick on whichever side I happen to visit during a bilge crawl. Simply check that the level is "good". Engine does not consume engine oil noticeably. I log 80-100 hours per year and...
Shelf above the TV is held in place by philips screws from the top. Use a stubby screwdriver to remove. If you need to get at the wires feeding the TV you need to remove the trim/covers inside the locker on the opposite side of the wall. (starboard side of the v-v-berth)
The signal and power connection are inside the Raymarine radar on my 2006 P34. Take the top cover off. Inside there is a metal cover over the connections - once removed the power can be disconnected (2 pairs of power cables are used due to the high current required by the unit). And the...
Radar Power Conection
Check the power connections in the radar dome. There are two pairs of 12 volt wires in the cable from the E120 (mine is an E80). Both blacks and reds need to be securely connected in the dome.
In mine the wire strands on one of the reds worked loose/broke, and the high...
I am interested in crewing on the trip to Lake Ontario, if that's your plan. Have a Mainship Pilot 34, currently on Georgian Bay, previously on Lake Ontario. have been thru the Rideau, Oswego, Erie and Welland canals.

Raymarine Radar Problem
Check the power connections inside the dome.
I was in the process of ripping my Raymarine Radar out (2006 vintage with E80's etc) when I discovered that one of the power cables had overheated and was almost fully out of the socket.
The radar is a high current device -...
Baccus - would like to meet and chat over a glass of red wine!
We can come up to the Honey Harbour Marina, or we could both cruise northward and anchor out somewhere along the small craft channel - lots of places to chose from. To avoid the weekenders during the week is best.
Will you be...
Our home base is Bay Port in Midland. Plan for this summer is to visit the North Chanel again (we were there 2 years ago - last week of August/first week of September). We travelled up and back via the small craft channel, stopping at different marinas and anchorages whn we could. A 3-week...
Pilot 34 Cabin Light Removal
On my P34 Hardtop the lights are a TIGHT fit in holes drilled into plywood blocks attached to the underside of the hardtop. Got mine out the first time by working a thin putty knife between the edge of the light and the ceiling fabric. I actually used several...
One day for Georgian Bay is like trying to see Europe in 1 week - not enjoyable!
If your boat can be trucked spend the time available in Georgian Bay and send it back home by truck! Or leave it in Georgian Bay for the next season.
