Should I consider doing my 3208 after coolers my 3208's myself??

Sometimes I find it helps to move the part back in the direction from which it started. Seems counterintuitive, but it can free up the part and allow lube to penetrate, then might move more freely in the right direction. Just throwing that out there, its hard to know without a better look. Best...

    Tecma Toilets Water Usage

We’ve had Tecma toilets in our boat that have been flawless for 6 years. I haven’t had to seek tech support so no personal experience there. I have never used a Raritan ME but these Tecmas are the best boat toilets I have encountered. Vacuflushes are a bad memory.

    Hello From OC California

It would be a good idea to price the shipping options if you haven’t already done so. I shipped a boat from FLL to VIC (Victoria, BC, Canada). We originally planned to run the boat to somewhere near the canal and ship it uphill from there. I priced the shipping options and learned that the...

Used oil to power our diesel boats

We try to get all our engine oil in the 5gal size container and always keep enough empties for the next oil change. Screw the cap back on, wipe it clean and take it away in the car or store on the boat until the next fuel dock run. The large (5gal) containers are a lot easier to transport since...

    Anchoring again

I’m a big fan of Rocna and would likely go with a 55kg/120lb for your boat. The new Mark II or a Vulcan would be my preference, depending on which one fits. The original roll bar Rocna of the same size would also be great and would be a huge improvement over your CQR. We run a 70kg/154lb Rocna...

    Fish hooks rusting away

Those hooks were just what I had in the overstuffed tackle drawer, but are something we would use on bigger yellowfin or bluefin tuna. They also can be used for marlin, but I don’t personally fish marlin very often. We do use similar hooks (all circles, but usually smaller size) for all our...

    Thrusters Not needed??

Regarding adjusting your offer, you can make an offer based on what the boat is worth to you. It may not be productive to argue to the seller that the price should be lower based on lack of a thruster, but it is completely legitimate to make that adjustment in your own mind and offer...

    Fish hooks rusting away

I’m not sure how one would prove or disprove this, but I would be interested in seeing what study(ies) you were able to locate. Like the concept of rusting away, I would like to think that fish can spit the hooks. It would be great to see if someone was able to determine that it is not a myth.

    Fish hooks rusting away

Ok, I got sidetracked but now I’m back. We can’t quit after 3 weeks. Here is after 4 weeks: After 5 weeks: And after 6 weeks and the end of the road for this little test: The hooks were pretty corroded after 6 weeks but still solid enough that I couldn’t bend them with any reasonable...

    Fish hooks rusting away

I’ve been fishing most of my life and have always heard that a hook left in a fish will rust away quickly. The specifics vary but often suggest that the hook goes away (rusts, “dissolves”, falls out, etc) pretty quickly. I’d like to believe it, but I’ve always had a hard time reconciling that...

Sounds like somebody was trying to sell a boat that didn’t have thrusters.

    This is fishing in Mexico

Every credible source I have encountered considers Mahi Mahi, Dorado, and Dolphin fish to be different names for the same fish. West coast US usually uses the first 2 names. The colors vary by fish and usually start off intense green, blue and yellow, then fade quickly once its out of the...

It seems I am updating everythink but the kitchen sink. Well here goes

Are those pics before and after, or after and after? Did it look like the OP’s sink condition when you started? Can you share details? What type of buffing wheel, and did you use polishing compound? Looks great. More info would be interesting.

This might be the Nordhavn story you are remembering. The boat is Dirona and they got rolled pretty hard crossing a bar: https://mvdirona.com/2014/09/69-1-degrees/

    Stability and righting ability

Yes, I do think that is the case. I’m a powerboat guy from the start but I’ll take the hit along with the sailors. Vikings are brick outhouses. The design logic is greatly different from that of a sailboat but they survive and routinely travel long distances in all conditions. There is more...

Ray McCormack Sunseeker 54 delivery to Hawaii currently underway

I’ve read through this entire thread and most of the discussion is from experienced and knowledgable members. Not sure of your point, but it is not accurate to dismiss opinions as “inexperienced” just because they differ from your own.

Ray McCormack Sunseeker 54 delivery to Hawaii currently underway

Getting away with doing something dumb doesn’t make it any less of a bad decision to have done it. Some of the concerns addressed here were based on fuel capacity calculations with incomplete or incorrect fuel quantities. The predictions of running short of fuel were based on that info...

Hippo, that is a lot of detail for a “bare bones” version of your post. Sailboats have a big stick on top with sails on it and because of that, getting knocked down in big weather is something you have to be prepared for. Gz and AVS are necessary to know because you may test those angles during...
