    Vatrer Lifepo4 batteries

I don’t know how long they have been in existence. They faired well on a disassembly review. Their batteries can be purchased with cold sensors, self heating capability and Bluetooth reporting. The pricing is very reasonable. I do not have any information on their customer support...

    Outboard mounting bolts

I find thru bolting to be the best theft deterrent.

    Air conditioner condensate line

Two of mine go to the bilge and one goes over the side. I so rarely run them in cooling mode so water is not an issue for me here in the PNW. My boat spent 1/2 its life in LA so I suspect that the A/C units saw a lot of use then but no issues now.

bluewater 5200 -- anyone heard of these vessels?

My first experience with a Bluewater 5200 was when I was asked to retrieve one from the bottom of Lake Washington. The owner never told me exactly what happened but he managed to rip the stern off the Boat when he collided with his dock. This in its self does not make it a bad boat but it does...

    Friday Harbor Moorage Issues

There is a private marina at Rouche Harbor with dock hands, very friendly but they charge a lot more than Friday Harbor does.

A Strange Bayliner 3388 — What Could Be Wrong?

In the top left corner of picture 1. You will see a fuse panel. Not that the bottom two fuses have fused jumper wires. This is probably due to some one breaking off the tabs that hold the fuses in place. So, instead of upgrading to a more modern spade style fuse block they did the cheapest...

    Starlink Mini formally announced.

Careful folks. The mini is an add on to an existing program. Meaning after you pay $120 for residential service you can add the mini for an additional $30 a month but you are throttled to 50 GB. We will need to see were this goes price wise before getting excited.

A Strange Bayliner 3388 — What Could Be Wrong?

Looking at these pictures I am left with the opinion that these were well used engines before being dropped in this boat. As you have noted, every possible short cut has been taken to not spend money. I can tell you the battery is not properly secured nor covered and that is probably the...

What material are folks using for black backing plates?

I like Sintra, very light and easy to work with. My only concern with Sinatra is edge appearance. If your edges are hidden then no issue. You can’t just quarter round the edge and call it a day with Sintra.

    Gig Harbor

There is enough water even at a minus tide but, pay attention there are plenty of shallows at the entrance.

    Starlink files for patent.

Just released, Starlink Mini. An all in one antenna and router. Not as small as the current patent filing. I am speculating that the Mini is the product that Starlink filed paper work on last fall. I would expect that we will see this palm sized product come Jan 2025.

    Gig Harbor

If you joined the Seattle Yacht Club you could use the Gig Harbor outstation for free.

What material are folks using for black backing plates?

I do not limit my self to one material. If I know I'm going to be adding more holes at a later date I go with ABS. This is the easiest material to work with. Almost unbreakable, just not the pretties and if not adequately supported it can warp, cheaper than starboard. If I want a shinny...

    VHF radio issues

This is not a very scientific answer but a personal opinion. I would assume its the radio. West Marine brand that is 24 years old, was low grade at purchase and now its old junk (my opinion). If I happen to be wrong I would then replace the antenna and not with an entry level model. At this...

Kabola not heating rooms but heating water

I would turn on the system. Then I would check the heat exchangers to see if they are getting hot. This would rule out any issues related to circulation. If the heat exchangers are not getting hot, I would assume that there is an aquastat preventing the fans from coming on. If the heat...

    Starlink files for patent.

Starlink’s new patent filing appears to be for an DC powered all in one antenna router combination that can fit in the palm of your hand. This would mean backpackers could take the internet with them. More importantly, this would make adding Starlink to any boat as easing as placing a cell...

    Eco worthy Batteries

I don't expect that you will have any issues with Vatrer brand. I'm assuming that you ordered a 100 amp battery and not something larger. I caution people to deal with a vendor that can lend support for programing their battery chargers. Customer support is what helped Battleborn charge...

    AC in forward cabin

So far I have had good luck with my Webasto self contained units. I run them 9 months out of the year in heat mode and 2 months in cooling mode. I only have 4 years of experience with them.

    Eco worthy Batteries

I can not provide a link. I can only tell you what my car said as I drove from Anacortes to Sun Peaks. My car has proven to be reliable. However, those were the most extreme temperatures I saw during the 5 hour drive and they were at the base of tall mountains.

WishI could help you with a local technician. The nearest one I know of is Breakwater Marine in Tacoma.

A Strange Bayliner 3388 — What Could Be Wrong?

It is impossible to know what the PO was thinking when he re-powered this boat. A wild guess would be that the engines were destroyed one winter and the owner found himself with a worthless boat. The owner probably was of a cheap nature and already operated the boat at slow speeds so saw...

    Eco worthy Batteries

That’s nice. I never said Abbotsford or Friday Harbor. You are however making my point that freezing temperatures are not really a concern in the PNW.

    Eco worthy Batteries

We had an arctic storm flow through mid Jan of this year. -37C in BC and -36F at the foothills of Mt Baker. My boat spent the winter in Anacortes where temperatures were below zero for several days. I know this because I drove from Sumas to Kamloops that day. Was so cold they would only...

    Gig Harbor

Arabella’s Landing is probably your best central location in GigHarbor. Tides Tavern has been the main watering hole for 60 years.

    Heating

That sounds like a sensor issue but it could be a circuit board issue. I think a call to IRT will help you straighten things out. Not knowing exactly what has been replaced makes it difficult to diagnose on the forum.
