The filters look like they are a bit lower than Raycor but when I drain bowl in can fuel stops flowing when Racor empty. Above the Racor I found copper tubing with a shut off valve that looks like it separates the incoming fuel from Port & Stbd tank. It is closed meaning port tank, port engine etc.

I cant locate these Perkins Sabre fuel filters Perkins Powerpart 35412 anywhere. There is 1 new on boat in box. Can't change other one.

I just got boat 2 days ago. The marina maintained all mechanical work. Im told it was all up to date. Who knows.

I'm going change out secondary in port engine today. We only have 1 & that had most oroblem.

I changed Racor primaries & they were clean & pink.

On way home on 500 mile trip with new used boat. Engines ran fine for 2 hrs. Then they started slowing down little by little at different times. Limpd in at 900 rpm. They're racor 500 FG filters. Says to use element 2010 series. Never saw water in bowl. Will open up n see elements. Found 2 new...

Sea,trials seemed to go well. The engines hit the 2500 rpm & kept up on plane at 2200 rpm. The boat weighs 34,000 lbs. The Floscans showed about 1 mpg at 20 mph. They have been maintained by the yard since new in 2008. The man had deep pockets & was very fussy about all mechanical maint.

I go on sea trials tomorrow. I'll watch boat get launched & marina manager that maintains it will run through the systems before & during sea trials. Looking forward to it. Boat was in inside storage each winter & well maintained very well. Keep you posted.

FF, I've read some engines have a "fuel cooler" that uses raw water to cool the return fuel to tank. Wouldn't that take care of not switching tanks for cooler fuel?

Sounds good. I will have a lot to learn on the boat I'm in process of buying. Twins & generator with 300 gals diesel. I don't know if that's 2 tanks or one. Just passed survey 30 minutes ago. Be on it to bring home to Detroit in less than 2 weeks.

Thank you. I got a type of funnel a few years ago by Raycor I think. It has a special screen in it that is suppose to stop water. You have to be careful & never get a spray cleaner etc on sceen or it loses its "magic" properties. Thanks again

I have not had boat in water yet. It is suppose to go in the 31st. Sea trials will be then or next day. I will make sure it hits 2500 rpm. I think they are governed so I don't know if it would go to 2550 rpm even in neutral. The boat is being surveyed as I type this.

You're so right. I'm want to find out what manufacturer says is max cruise rpm's. I'm in the process of buying a 38' cabin cruiser repowed 8 years ago with the M300TI's. They still look new with 160 hrs on them. I am not a speedster & don't want to work them hard.

Can someone help me out how to find cruising rpm's on Perkins Sabre M300TI? On boatdiesel.com it shows 2500 rpm's max. I don't want to push these engines. Thank you.

I will look into the 7" by Garmin. I planned on using a larger chart plotter when I learn more in the next few months & buy one. The plan for the Montana 610 was to use in a week or 2 when needed & use as backup with larger unit & use on my dingy. Thanks and take care.

Thanks psneeld. I went to waterwayguide.com. That is great. I played with it a bit & love it. It did ok on my smartphone. It even gives you distances & headings. Fantastic. Now I have to find way on Web to line me up someone to make trip with me from Milwaukee to Detroit.
