    What material is the prop.

I have a 2016 ST 34, and was wondering what type of prop does Beneteau use. Manganese Bronze or a Nibral ? thanks

Choosing the right outboard for my dinghy

define "mods to make it stronger" lol also, what do you figure is the total weight of your dinghy, engine, etc. I think I will hit the 210-pound mark with everything. The last question what do you figure is the height of the top of your swim platform to the waterline. Guy told me that's...

Choosing the right outboard for my dinghy

Like to thank all that contributed to this thread really helpful. With that said I'm going with the 9.8 Tohatsu or 9.9 Yamaha. Weight is important to me that is why I didn't go with a 15HP and from what many people told me with a 9'6" aluminum rib dinghy (108Lbs) I'll have no problem planing...

Choosing the right outboard for my dinghy

hmm, that's a pretty good idea. When crossing the gulf stream, lift everything on the flybridge separately engine then dinghy very low strain on the boom and once in the Bahamas use a traditional simple davit system, is this the system you're talking about https://www.trickdavit.com/video.php ?

Choosing the right outboard for my dinghy

I doubt it, the boat is french and the boom was standard equipment probably in-house. I had trouble finding the load limit on it.

Choosing the right outboard for my dinghy

I totally agree that is why I'm probably going with lifting the dinghy and engine separately unless I can reinforce the boom to my satisfaction. By lifting separately I'll be around half the boom's rated lift limit. Sure it will take more time but I'm I'll be in the Bahamas and time is what we...

Choosing the right outboard for my dinghy

Lots of good points, I am going today to see the Tohatsu dealer and will confirm the weight difference like you said 12 pounds is not a lot. But the more I think about it, I will be too close to the boom limit as one member said when you calculate all the other stuff besides the weight of the...

Choosing the right outboard for my dinghy

I understand but if towing the dinghy short distances, I'll be going no more than trawler speed of 8 knts or so I'm not too worried about it getting caught in the wind but it's certainly something to pay attention to.

Choosing the right outboard for my dinghy

This is my concern too, even though the boom is rated at 125kilo I'll be close to 100 no matter the engine I choose. I'm changing the cheek blocks on the boom to make it less forceful to lift but it doesn't remove the strain on the boom. I think I will try to make the first lift with it and see...

Choosing the right outboard for my dinghy

Ok so you have the 9.8 with the carb, and your dingy is slightly bigger and you say you plane easily that is good to hear, thanks for the info and the link.

Choosing the right outboard for my dinghy

(sorry if I'm posted this in the wrong forum) Ok so I need to decide which outboard I need for my dinghy, headed to the Bahamas next year from my home port of Montreal. Let me know which one you would pick and why. The Dinghy, AB 9.5 AL ... aluminum ribbed inflatable 9 feet 6 inches, weight...

Deploying and lifting a dinghy on the 44ST

Following this thread, my dingy and engine will be 205 pounds from what I read the load limit on the boom of an SW34 2016 is 275 pounds. Heading down to the Bahamas next year. So my system really needs to work. One suggestion I have come across is to change the lines and cheek blocks. I would...

    Swift Trawlwer 34 range

I have a ST34 and I find the fuel consumption great at trawler speed. The added benefit is the possibility of going 20knots to get out of bad weather for instance. I think the comparison though should of been between a swift 44 (dual engines) vs the Californian 42 LRC

    private dockage

I was wondering if there's a resource with listings of reputable people offering short term dockage all along the ICW up to Florida. I'm planning in a few years come October to take my boat from my home port in southern Quebec, Canada and riding out the ICW then hopping to the Bahamas. BUT I...

Swift 44 owners need your advice

Hi fellow Beneteau boaters Looking into buying a 2013 44. What are the top issues I should look for when I do a visual inspection of it. I am planning on having a survey done on it but just off the bat do the 44 have a particular issue that needs to addressed? Something I need to ask the...

Fire at Marina Fortin in Quebec, ouch!

That's right, anybody doing the great loop would be doing the Richelieu river and going past that marina. I went to see the marina today and talked to an owner. Estimation is between 20 to 25 million to rebuild including all the boats lost.

    RPM at idle

I just pulled out my 2016 34 from winter storage and I have lots of vibration at idle. It’s idling at 600 rpm ... isn’t that too low? On the gauge it says it’s set to 800 but it’s idling at 600. When I give it throttle the rpm increase and the vibration stops ... any idea? Cummings 425 Thanks
