New boat, need some check list ideas

I have a pair of those same yanmar engines of a similar vintage and they have been excellent. There are 12 anodes in each engine, including 6 in the aftercoolers. If they have been changed regularly then all should be well in the heat exchangers. Maintenance records will give an indication. I...

    Ultra anchor issues

Thanks all for responses, I will clarify a couple of things: when I say hard sand I mean sand with very little silt. The setting problems were encountered with the larger anchor in at least 20 separate locations over with a clean sand bottom. Anchor chains are both 13mm and marked at 10m...

    Ultra anchor issues

Here is a link to the connector on the smaller anchor https://www.ultramarine-anchors.com/temp/img/ul/ultra-flip-swivel-hook-w1200-h1200-547584cc8009a5276771437b4ff3572c.png The larger anchor connector is same except for the saddle / bar at the anchor end of the swivel

    Ultra anchor issues

Anyone else come across serious issues in attempting to set an Ultra anchor in hard sand? Scenario is on a 25m, 85tonne boat with 13mm chain and two Ultra anchors on bow. 80kg anchor refuses repeatedly to set in hard sand, meanwhile 60kg anchor sets fine - first time. Only difference apart...

    2 way headphones

Sena sph10 All worked extremely well once I realised you only pair them once and not each time they are switched on. Can use from boat to shore whilst at anchor. I have not yet come to the end of the battery life, but expect to get the toolbox out then….:)

    Raw Water Strainer

Thanks all for the responses, as you suggest they are probably an obsolete version of Groco or Perco design. The cylinder end seals are L shaped in cross section and made of nitrile type material. I am trying to get some made, but can revert to a breakfast cereal box if that fails :) thanks again

    Raw Water Strainer

Thanks. Here a close up of the cap which could be a sailboat or upside down some kind of flagstaff? The existing seals appear to be Nitrile or similar, 'L' shaped in cross section

    Raw Water Strainer

Would anybody happen to recognise this bronze raw water intake strainer? On a UK based Trader 535 from 2003, manufactured in Taiwan. The clear body is 150mm external diameter (just under 6"). On the screwed cap is a logo of a sailing boat. The smaller genset strainer which is similar has 'LH' on...

    Shaft Seal Type

Does anyone recognise this shaft seal type?. It is on my Trader 535 (taiwan built) from 2003, 2.5" shafts. Appears to be of the dripless variety, however no water supply tubing is attached. I have no trouble with them, but would like to have some documentation on them. TIA
