    Thoughts on caulking alternatives

I used Slick Seam for years. Stays soft, squeezes out when the wood swells and can be painted over. The instructions say to launch immediately after application. I never did and had no problems.

    Thoughts on caulking alternatives

What's your budget? Maine has quite few skilled caulkers (not a soon to be lost skill here) who might be coaxed down to sunny FL this time of year for fair pay, travel expenses and lodging. Used a couple of different guys in the past on our old 40' wood boat. Google "seam splining" as a...

    Modernizing a trawler

One's better half standing a night watch might think that the sink should be at a lower height. Just saying.

TF Gathering in SE Florida 2018

Where's the boat located Parks? Should you decide to go look at her and she is at Ellis in SW Harbor, you have a free bed and beers at our house. It's only an hour or less from us. Although, we will be in FL part of Dec and all of Jan and Feb.

Why didn't I think of this?

Rtic will probably soon come up with a less expensive version as they did with the coolers.

    New America's Cup boats

Yes indeed. And they are coming back (although not to America's Cup racing): A pocket guide to the J Class yachts – the world's most elegant racing fleet Had the pleasure of seeing Endeavour up close in Maine a couple of years in a row when her rescuer/restorer, Elizabeth Meyer, brought...

    New America's Cup boats

Hmm. Could make the series interesting again. I never warmed to the multihull boats. Return of tacking duels! https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2017/11/21/565604657/americas-cup-race-gets-a-radical-new-single-hulled-boat https://youtu.be/rx2qG_YMrDs

    Line drawing wanted

Lift method. Took a week long course on half model building at the WoodenBoat School a year ago. Lot of fun. If I can find proper line drawings for something like our IG32 I may try the buttock method as it's more suitable for power boat models.

    Line drawing wanted

I'd like to find a real line drawing of an IG. Or of other "trawlers". This is a true "line drawing". Hard to find for most of our boats. http://www.america-scoop.com/images/stories/1937/EndeavourIILinesDBig.jpg My skill, such as it is, can make half models from proper line drawings. Not...

His Diary/Her Diary and the different way men and women think. Her Diary: Tonight, I thought my husband was acting weird. We had made plans to meet at a nice restaurant for dinner. I was shopping with my friends all day long, so I thought he was upset at the fact that I was a bit late but he...

    rudder question

As to question 1, if they are SS rudders, or perhaps even if they are not but any metal, I would consider using a product such as this first, followed by your usual anti fouling paint: Pettit Underwater Priming Kit. I used it on our SS prop cage with good results. First year we had the cages I...

    Looking for a different layout . . .

The IG 32 Europa satisfies our desire for covered open aft deck space, plus open deck space on the fly bridge partially covered by bimini. With deck chairs and YETI with seat cushion we can seat 5 comfortably in cockpit. On bridge up to 7-8 (at anchor/mooring).

    Fall

Fall, unfortunately, means it's about time to haul the boat and winterize her for a six month sleep. On the other hand, it's a glorious season full of color and change. And, at the end of fall, we head for Florida for warmth and sunshine, if there is a Florida left after this hurricane season.
