    Trawlerfest 2018

We must have been at different TrawlerFests this weekend. There was more than one trawler that was moderately powered for displacement speeds - Nordhavn 47, 48’ & 44’ Krogens, 49’ North Pacific. None of those will hit 15 kts at WOT much less cruise at that speed. And I have to agree with dhays...

nav program for 32 gb iPad Pro?

I’ve used Navionics on my iPad for years and love it. The charts are updated continually and the sonar chart option is very accurate. Bought a new Simrad chart plotter this year running Navionics and it’s great having them run together and talking to each other.

    Kent Narrows

My boat is berthed at Mears Point Marina on the Narrows. I draw 4’ and so far this year have not seen less than 4’ below my keel transiting the nort channel. Pay close attention to the navaids, not your chart plotter, and you should be fine.

    The "Wirie" out of business

I have a Wirie on my boat and love it, but won’t be back onboard for several weeks. Do they sill work? I.e. can you still connect to 10.10.20.1?

Helping someone out of the water.

Our marina is quite large, 540 slips, and there are ladders installed on each dock with some of the longer docks having more than one. The closest one to our boat is 3 slips over. Whenever we walk guests to the boat, whether they've been out with us before or not, I always stop at that ladder...

    Rookie Radar Question

I am about to install a new Simrad 4G broadband radar on my arch and am debating whether I should buy a mount to raise the unit 5” - 10” so the beam clears my bimini. Should I be concerned about this? Not sure if the bimini fabric and/or frame will reduce the ability to see objects close to...

For Rent: MT 43 Available for Bareboat Charter

You would have to hire the captain on your own but the charter company will provide a list of qualified captains.

For Rent: MT 43 Available for Bareboat Charter

Explore the Chesapeake Bay on a fully equipped 1990 Marine Trader Tradewinds 43 Sundeck. My wife and I started bareboat chartering trawlers on the Chesapeake 10 years ago in order to find out for ourselves what life on a trawler was like and what we did and didn’t like about sizes, types and...

    Newbie - Chesapeake Bay Area

Welcome! We keep our MT 43 at Mears Point Marina at Kent Narrows. Was just in Annapolis taking a 2 day boat electrical systems class at Annapolis School of Seamanship. Best $395 I’ve spent since we bought our boat!

    Greetings from Newbies

Thanks dimer. I grew up on the west side of Houston and my boyhood home flooded after Harvey. Thankfully my folks moved to Tyler years ago, but I still have friends and family there that were affected. Hope you made it through without too much damage.

    Greetings from Newbies

After years of bareboat chartering on the Chesapeake and attending TrawlerFest, my wife and I finally bought a boat and closed on her last week. Her new name is Andiamo and she is a 1990 Marine Trader Tradewinds 43. We are so excited about becoming a part of the cruising community in our area...

    Newbie/Wintering in Baltimore

Moonstruck, wish I could head south for the winter but unfortunately I won't have the ability to do that for another 10-15 years (unless I win the lottery). BP, we live an hour outside of Baltimore so checking on the boat frequently wouldn't be hard at all. Thanks for your responses.

    Newbie/Wintering in Baltimore

Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum and getting close to purchasing our first trawler, hopefully in the next 6-9 months, after a number of years of chartering. Have our eyes on a couple of mid-80s 40-45' semi-displacement trawlers with relatively low HP as we like cruising at displacement...
