They won't stay in. I push them through and they fall in the water. So, what's the secret to putting these screens into these port lights?

Doesn't seem anyone is familiar with those port lights or screens.
Do you know the Port light mfg?
You could look up the lights and see what is listed for screens.
Contact the mfg for info.
I'm guessing they just aren't the correct ones
 
When we replaced our Beckson portlights, similar design as yours but not exactly the same, the screens came installed from the factory. They were mounted between the gasket and the portlight frame. They had to be removed for the installation and reinstalling them was kind a pain but that's how they were held in place in our case.
 
The screen looks like it's a Lewmar.
 
First, the side showing in the pic is the inside and they need to be inserted from the outside. Second, the handle is the top and there should be two tabs on the bottom. Insert the two tabs between the gasket and the frame on the outside then gently insert the lip between the frame and gasket all the way around. When you push it through, start over. When you get it right, you can close the ports with the screen in place if you wish.
