Walking the docks last night after dinner we came across a good-looking boat badged as a DeFever 48. It looked good and was worthy of further examination on our part. Unfortunately it was a transient and has departed.
The thing is, it wasn't like any other 48 I've seen. It appeared to be a newer-build--say, post-2000. It was a pilothouse design with a Portuguese bridge. No aft cabin. Teak cap rails. A mast that had what appeared to be a large flexible boot over the lower-half.
I've always had trouble understanding the various DeFever models and build histories, so I ask: What was this boat and when was it built?
