This is a unique opportunity to own a twin turbo diesel top of the line built boat in good shape, safe, clean, and a 7’ 11” legal towing beam on a galvanized triple axle custom trailer. $38K for boat, $4K for custom built trailer.
The Boat:
One owner until last year. 1974 Carter Safari, built in So Cal, $44,000 at the time, repowered with twin turbo 4 cyl Volvo Penta AQAD30A diesels with 2300 hours.
Volvo Penta Duo Prop 290 outdrives, just taken down to bare metal and painted by professional boat yard which does the ferries, official SF Opening Day yacht, SF Fire Dept boats, etc, done in April.
$20,000 spent on the boat five years ago, one receipt attached, 180 hours of labor! The owner passed away, and since stored at the reputable boatyard with same mechanic who did the work and checked it out before my purchase in Aug 2019, intended for charter work, but now I am phasing out of charters.
No boat can match this price for a twin turbo diesel, duo prop legally trailerable boat which can do 23.6 knots, about 27 mph, with a cabin and dual helm and in good condition. Twelve layers hand laid fiberglass in hull, eight in house, the Rolls Royce of its time. Built better than a Bertram.
The Story:
According to the sons, their father used to fish 100 miles offshore, and spent $20K for a last hurrah for he and his wife, they both passed away and I bought the boat after the $20K of work. Have used less than a dozen times, now in Sausalito in my slip, the triple axle galvanized trailer in my yard.
This boat has always had a good owner and no gaps for deferred maintenance.
A Ranger of this size cannot be trailerable, nor is as seaworthy and the cost is astronomical.
V berth; triple burner propane stove; fridge; hanging locker, lots of storage and drawers; plumbed for a head, but now a Porta Potti. Has a hot water heater tank I have never used; ditto shower. Two 75 gallon fuel tanks. Windlass works. Outrigger bases removed but available.
Go fishing or cruising. Go to Mexico, Pacific NW, Catalina, East Coast, use it as a camper…Boat is about 10,000 lbs, I towed it with a 1995 Dodge 3/4 ton from Reno area.
Brand new bimini. Cockpit cover and upper helm covers. All exterior window coverings. Fresh bottom paint. 3/4 full tank of fresh fuel. One new impeller. Dual helm. Headlights which work! New galvanic isolator. Boat and trailer currently registered, clear titles.
My needs have changed since I bought the boat last August, otherwise this is the best boat I have owned and would keep, but there are too many variables in my life at the moment, so this wonderful boat is available to its next caretaker, as it will take care of you, your friends and family.
Boat is in Sausalito, CA
Thanks, Stuart
