FOR SALE – Handyman’s Special
1979 33’ Albin Trawler “Vardande”
Asking Price $19,900 (reasonable offers entertained)
This boat was purchased in 1981 and was cruised with pride by my parents throughout New England and later Englewood, Florida (after 1991).
I inherited her in December 2002. The estate had it professionally surveyed, where it was determined to be in “Above Average” overall condition. We then sailed it north to Crystal River FL, where it was shipped 10 miles overland to a private residence for long-term storage, until we could retire. Poor health now forces sale. She has remained constantly undercover (w/ dehumidifier in the Main Salon). This boat is completely dry inside & out.

Know Outstanding Issues
While in storage, fiberglass blistering was observed in the aft 2 feet of the keel. Research found a short section of mild steel “U” channel had been cast into the tail of the keel, as a reinforcement for the lower rudder post mount. Seawater had infiltrated this area causing the steel to rust, lifting away the outer layer of fiberglass over it. We had planned to through-bolt new stainless steel plates on each side of the keel, and re-fiberglass this area. (see photos).
Water Intrusion stains have been noted at Aft Cabin sliding Windows.
Sun dried weather-stripping has causes rain water leak at Aft Cabin Sliding Windows, which need to be addressed.
Water Intrusion stains have been noted in the forward cabin overhead near Sampson Post.
Flybridge will need to be reinstalled after transport.
Being in storage for this amount of time, it needs a total cleaning inside & out, but it’s all there. A fuel efficient “low hours” diesel cruiser, priced to sell to the right buyer.
