I've got a Volvo Penta gearbox, MS-3 that has a failed clutch slip disk (I think part number is 852072). Spoke to Pacific Power Group (Volvo Dealer in the Seattle area). This part is obsolete in Volvo's system. The Volvo rep I spoke to was surprised how little info he could find, and thought the slip clutch was an option back in the day that most of the marine gears were sold without. Volvo has had a couple of major system changes over the decades, so they probably got lost in one of the big moves after it was made obsolete. Volvo provided me with a listing of used Volvo parts dealers from around the country, but I have had no luck locating the part. It would stink to have to replace a transmission over what should be $100 part. However, I’m starting to contemplate seeing if I can obtain the material to build it back up, or find someone to attempt to fab a replacement, or am I just wasting my time; maybe I should just replace the transmission.
Any thoughts/recommendations from you guys out there? Thanks, Ryan
