Greetings,
I am new to this forum, but I poked around a this looks like an experienced crowd.* I am considering an upgrade in Autopilots.* I currently have a mid-80s vintage BenMar, which is run from a true compass.* As explained to me, it has something to do with light that shines through a slot in the compass card.* At any rate, it doesn't always hold course well and I've had it serviced - still don't trust it.
But before I plunk down good money, I'd like to know if anyone has had good or bad experience with Si-Tex autopilots.* I'm looking at the SP70R, which I believe is made by ComNav and marketed in the US by Si-Tex.
Any comments, good or bad are appreciated.
Steve
