- 58' Bill Garden Trawler 1952
58' William Garden, built 1952. 61 tons designed to cross oceans. Not a recreational vessel, a "yacht with a workboat soul."
Capable in all conditions, with a high bow, wheel house set back and curved (to minimize boarding sea's) Twin luggers, 3,200 gallon fuels, 800 water, all heavy weight centered to minimize motion. 24" walkways all around, with bronze handrails.
George Bueler (Diesel Duck) Sam Devlin (Devlin boat works) Bob Perry all held Bill garden as the "Frank Lloyd Write" of boat designers.
Paint, oil, and bronze. (No stainless, varnish, or waxing)
Over the years I am still fascinated how the design and build come together.
We'll be in the Port Townsend Wood Boat Festival in Sept. come see us!
