My last (and only) posts were in May/2010, when we started looking for a trawler. At the time, my sign-on was Vico512. After several failed attempts to get reestablished, including help from the mods, I threw in the towel and signed-up with our current boat name. SHASA is a South African bush name that means "good water".
It took 3 years of casual looking, but we finally settled on a 1989 Transworld 40 Sundeck. There were only a few made, by a custom boatyard in Taipei. It has a semi-displacement hull and beautiful joinery, much like they do in their larger yachts. It's powered by Cummings 6BT5.9M engines.
As mentioned in the 2010 post, we're coming from a 1962 mahogany Chris Craft, and I'm not missing all the exposed wood to occupy (demand) my time. Something to said for a bucket of soapy water, a hose and an annual waxing.
We will remain in the Yarrow Bay marina -- we've been there since the 90s, and it's only 5 minutes from the house.
Nice to be back.
