I would think that switching to a local native species would eliminate a lot of the concern over non-native species escaping the pens. There are still concerns over the farming methods themselves, but an accidental release wouldn't be as worrisome.

ASD I thought you liked fish .. so well you kill all you can.
Wonder where in Puget Sound they will be?

I love fish, just no "farmed" fish.

All farmed fish or that Atlantic dyed crap?

How about farmed tuna from bluewater pens?

I like fresh native fish too.. but farmed the right way seems to have some merit.

There is nothing wrong with farmed fish, they are healthy and delicious. In fact, you should get used to eating farmed fish because I'd give the wild stocks 10 to 20 years before they are extinct and the only thing left to eat will be penned fish in a barren ocean. Did you read how the Chinese vacuumed up the Galapagos recently? Wild salmon are nearly gone...as are the tuna, squid etc etc.
