This ocean, great loop-ready MarkII trawler is well fitted with twin Perkins model 4.236 diesel 85hp each engine in perfect running condition and an onboard generator and dual Cruise Air Conditioners. Survey available and just completed on December 21, 2020, with an insured value of $35,000. The original price in 1973 was $35,000 and in today's dollars Is $205,000.
The well-respected Gulfstar 36 is a “graceful aft-cabin trawler” offering a mix of “simplicity, comfort, and seaworthiness.” The bow is tall, and there’s plenty of freeboard from stem to stern. There’s a flybridge helm station (in addition to a lower helm in the saloon) that gives good sightlines around the boat. Wide side decks and rails all around are a plus for safety. Dot Calm includes a davit system for easy storage and launching of the dinghy.
Gulfstar Yachts was a large manufacturer of fiberglass sailboats and powerboats built in the Tampa Bay, Florida area from 1970 until 1990 when Viking Yachts purchased the company's assets.[1] Vince Lazzara, one of the pioneers of fiberglass sailboat construction, founded the company. Lazzara had previously been one of the founders of Columbia Yachts.[2] They produced both power from 36 to 72 feet and sailboats from 36 to 63
The aft air-conditioned cabin stateroom, with its dual twin-sized berths, offset to starboard and plenty of walk-around space. This cabin is the reason so many cruisers choose the Gulfstar 36. There is a large hanging locker to starboard and drawers and storage lockers under each bed. The adjacent head includes a separate shower. The second stateroom is forward, with a large V-berth. New teak replaced December 2020.
The main air-conditioned saloon has a port settee and double leaf teak table. Forward is the open galley. Equipment includes a refrigerator/freezer, a four-burner stove/oven, and a stainless-steel sink.
This exceptionally clean 36 Gulfstar can complete the loop and is ready to go on any journey.
