My raymarine autopilot on My Lady never worked and I want to purchase a new system. She's a 1981 42' Formosa with Twin Lehmans and 700 gallons of fuel. Hoping to leave the Keys before February for the Rio Dulce.
Are there feasible options for a used system? I looked on ebay and there's a hodge podge of various parts. I was considering a completely new Comnav 4 package. Any thoughts? How much should I expect to pay for installation???? My four abdominal hernias tell me not to try it myself. Thanks!!

Comnav is great & has great tech support.

You may want to find a great installer first though since you don't want to DIY.

Verify he has some familiarity with the unit.

Also, mount the heading sensor aft somewhat from mid ship to allow for quicker response in following seas

good luck

Last year I had an electronics company install a Simrad AP for $3,000. Lots of labor and worth every penny. Just a basic unit, set a compass heading and relax, no interface
