Lewmar 5 button remote doesn’t work

My remote stopped working after I put it in a plastic bag full of rice and left it in the hot sun to dry it out.
No light came on when I pressed any button

I changed the batteries and the on light blinks red every 3 seconds. It does not start any thruster function and none of the lights light up on the receiver

The thruster does work with the control on the lower helm

Do I have to preform an install program operation?

Any ideas? Did I accidentally “cook” my remote ?

Lewmar thruster controllers are somewhat notorious. If you search TF you will find numerous examples of failure due to moisture ingress. The things are a "potted" design which in theory is waterproof. In practice they do get moisture into them, and fail. Not repairable.

In my case it was the flybridge controller which was under a hardtop. Very occasional spray and perhaps wind=blown rain, but never drenched. They are unreasonably expensive to replace also........
