'02 Shamrock 22 Open (for sale) 03' Mainship 34 Pilot
Checking in as a new guy here. Life time boater from the islands area of Lake Erie.

We’re finally stepping up to a cruiser now that the kids are grown and we have some time to travel a bit. We are currently close to closing on a 2003 Mainship 34 Pilot. We vacillated a lot over what type of boat to get but settled on slower and less fuel consumption. Besides, we wanted to stay a bit closer to our friends who all have sailboats - a couple of whom could easily end up here, too.

My current ride is a 22 Shamrock that we we’ve loved for a long time and used for a lot of running around and specifically to chase the kids around the race course for nearly 20 years. Now that the family is getting bigger, we needed some more room, too…

Welcome aboard TF. You are in good company here as lots of current & former MS owners.
The Marlow-Mainship section has some stickies re MS Parts. My Bacchus website has similar links and other useful info including some cruising notes on NY Canals if you get over that way.

Thanks, Don. Looking forward to exploring that section. Did a little last night.

Who knows how far we’ll range with this thing. Some of our early big trips will likely be Georgian Bay/North Channel but that may take a little time as we get familiar with a new & bigger boat. Certainly not happening this summer!

Congratulations on the new to you boat and a nice area to cruise. Will be cruising through that area next weekend on the way back to the Erie canal and points south. Lots of good cruising directions to head in from there.

Georgian Bay is wonderful cruising. Our 2019 Cruise documents the whole trip for us from planning to completion. We took the Trent Severn Waterway which is a worthwhile experience.

Don't discount a trip on the Erie Canal. Buffalo down to the finger lakes is a lovely cruise.

Welcome, and congrats on the new boat.

Welcome aboard. We are docked in Lorain
