Hello everybody!

I bought last year a Taiwan Trawler, year of construction 1983, the builder is Her Shine Marine Co Ltd. but i cant find any reliable contact from that company. My problem is that i cant find the hull identification number on the boat. Do anyone of you know where the number on that boat is? Please Help!

Thanks! :)

Best regards
Valentino

One comment on the importance of knowing where your HIN is. Years ago, in an effort to crack down on the non-payment of import tax due on boats, even though foreign owned boats typically get a TIP (temporary import permit), which exempts the permitted boat from that tax, provided that all of the necessary steps are filed, one of which is the provision of a copy of that permit to the port captain (or marina manager, some confusion on that aspect). Anyway, the federalies did a surprise inspection up and down Baha, including at the marinas in Ensenada. The inspection entailed getting copies of the TIPs then matching the HINs shown on the TIP against the HIN actually shown on the boat. Lots of boats go impounded (chained to the dock and ordered not to leave), for mostly technical violations, like transposition errors in HIN numbers. But some were impounded because the HIN couldn't be found or was obscured in some way. My buddy's boat was one on which the HIN couldn't be found. He later discovered its location, but by then he was trapped in the slow moving wheels of justice, though six months later his boat was released.

My 1982 President trawler had no Hull ID embossed on the starboard stern. I had a few legal documents that listed a hull ID, including prior surveys and previous PO registrations.
Connecticut made me purchase a small placard name plate and screw it to the hull below the rub rail and it was accepted. Good ole state agencies.

On my 1984 GB it was hidden under the swim platform on the starboard side.

Normally on starboard side of transom as stated above. Could be high or low.

My boat is a 1972, and the hull number is a single digit according to the paperwork. I’m documented though, so just use that number for identification.
Im sure that if I went to regular state registration I’d have to have them generate a hull number and fasten it to the transom. I’ll avoid that fiasco if at all possible.

Mine was centered under the swim platform hidden under many layers of bottom paint. I epoxied and screwed a small placard to upper right transom.
