I have a 1991 GBC 36. I assume there are baffles in the fuel tanks?

Does anyone know if the baffles in the fuel tanks are horizontal or vertical?

I'm trying out a Mopeka fuel sensor that uses ultrasonics from the outside of the tank to determine the level. Horizontal baffles may be a problem...

TIA,
Jack

Will that sensor work on a metal tank? I assume the tank is metal.

This is what my Marine Trader baffles looked like.

Yes, they have some new ones made for steel and various liquids including diesel. Uses bluetooth to your phone or (soon) to Victron Cerbo.

I now have an inspection port in the side of my starboard tank, so I have seen inside. There is a single baffle, at the half way point, that is 95% to 99% as large as the ends of the tank. The gaps are at the lower corners.

What year is your boat? The baffle is horizontal or vertical?

I tried the sensor out today, but it's only reading 25" and the 34" tank is pretty much full...
