    Grand Banks vs. Monk

If I may chime in with an opinion on the 'perfect trawler', maybe take a look at the Transpacific Eagle 40. We've been boating for 8 yrs. and have worked our way up from a Seasport Pilot 27 (too small) to a twin gas Tolly 30' (nice layout, lots of outside space but twin gas .... but when oil...

    Transpac Eagle 40

Here are a couple pictures of my Eagle40 main stringers, taken from the lazarette hatch. They look 101% to me, no lifting of fiberglass, staining or damage. The white box in both pictures is the 6kw. gen set -- Edited by Nordic32 on Monday 19th of April 2010 04:56:44 PM

    Transpac Eagle 40

Now that you've owned the Eagle40 for almost a year, what do you think of her? Good points? bad? I know this is a loaded question, but from personal ownership, I can't find anything*I don't like about them. Thanks, Tom www.Eagle40.com

    Transpac Eagle 40

I've got a Transpac Eagle40 (which btw. is for sale) We absolutely love this boat and think it's the best 'small' big boat on the market. Reasons for thinking so are: - large outdoor living area, with a huge cockpit, large command bridge, decent fordeck with high bulwarks walk around side decks...

    '99 Transpacific Eagle 40 - for sale

I agree. She's*got everything you'd want in a short or long term use vessel. We went through a number of boats before discovering the Eagle40 and knew*we'd found the perfect one. Unfortunately, things took an*unexpected turn and we have to let her go. *

    '99 Transpacific Eagle 40 - for sale

Shoot ... just when you make it up to the boat that's the end of your dreams, the economy kicks you in the a$$. Unfortunately and with regreats, we have to put our Eagle 40 pilothouse trawler up for sale at $290k. Full info on these vessels and ours in particular can be found at www.Eagle40.com...

warmer in Vancouver than Houston Texas

and it's been slightly warmer and dryer here in Victoria than Van. On Xmas eve / day we took our boat from Victoria to Poets Cove for a 2 day Christmas vacation. It was beautiful, both the weather and the place.

    Twin disc Trolling valve

When we go hali fishing it's drop the hook in 200-300' of water, shut off the engine, crack a beer and a sandwich and wait for the rod to jerk. (dog fish for the first 1-2 hrs. then if we're lucky, a nice hali will latch on.)

    Tugs vs Trawlers

Tugs versus Trawlers Here's my 2 bits worth... We sold the 30' Tollycraft bacause it had 2 gas engines and when the price of fuel hit $150./barrel it was way too expensive to fill up We sold the Nordic Tug 32 because it didn't have any outside living space. No command bridge, very small...

    Gulf Islands

Were the jelly fish at Genoa Bay? We were there 2 weeks ago and saw much the same thing, 1000's of little jelly fish floating in the bay. I saw a show on the Discovery channel a while back where they were talking about jelly fish in the worlds oceans. Pretty scary stuff as these little critters...

A boat for the OTDE crowd

Yea, I've seen that 'vessel' here in Sidney a few times. With the seas we can get here in the north West at times, I'll bet the spotter on the top lookout would be able to sway 10-20' sideways in a good roll. Do you have a Yachtworld link to the listing?? and no- I'm not interested.

Being a Cdn. but thinking of leaving a boat registered in the States.

Thanks guys for all the responses, I appreciate it. On looking further into the tax matter, it looks like sooner or later I'd have to shell out between 15-25% of the purchase price as taxes and duty. (just so long as our politicians*get a good pension.... sheeesh) That said, I'm not willing to...

Being a Cdn. but thinking of leaving a boat registered in the States.

Hi all, First post. We're a couple of Canadian citizens seriously looking at up-sizing from our 32 Nordic to something a little bigger and have found a couple potentials in Seattle. If we were to purchase a Taiwan built trawler and bring her back into Victoria, we'd be looking at 13% in...
