    Pumpout Fitting Size?

Owning an OA I fully agree that the 1-1/2 fitting do not work. They are too small. Some OA have a 1-1/2 for those that don't have the 1-1/2 what seems to work for me is similar to the Edson Item Number: 272QC-150. The one that has the yellow disk and or the 1-1/2" screw in style don't work...

    Webasto 2010

FF and Poach and Phil I will be using the 2010 from suremarine. I like the board they supply with all the heaters. It works well. We had one on the AT5000. Will look into the low cutout And voltage drop talked about.

    Webasto 2010

To answer some questions. The cost is about the same to run heater or electric. To run charger, refer, extreme bilge heater 600 watts and 4 dehumidifers at 100 watts is still a fair amount of ac power used. ($60 per month) When you add it all up that is lots of contunious power on a...

    Webasto 2010

Hello we are switching out the forced air diesel since it is starting to die after 25 years. The replacement unit will be the webasto 2010 hydronic. We are wondering. How many of you use this heater while not on the boat? I was thinking of running the unit at a low temp setting like 45deg...

    Door removal for rollers replacement

Thanks but still no luck getting the door out. The set up on my boat is like the one from Beach House. No adjustment screws on the rollers. The door is longer than the opening. (Approx 3/16"). How does one get the door out? Really Don't want to remove the entire lower wood rail attached to...

    L16 6 Volt Batteries

Just a thought Have you Looked at trojan t145? I put in four of them in. They are only 3/4" higher than t105 but put out 260amp verses the t105 that put out 205. The weight increase is about 15lbs more than t105.

    Charging with the Alt.

Got back to boat today and did find a few answers. My start bank is 2 8d wired together for a 12 volt starter. This double bank starts both engines and both Alts go to the start bank. Then to the battery switches then to the house bank. I was measuring with the DVM from the forward battery...

    Charging with the Alt.

Ok I have looked again. I have only 1 Orange wire on the Alt it looks to be 12gauge. The only wires on the starter are for the starter solenoid wire colors are red and yellow/red and of yes the black for ground. Like PSNEELD and Highwire have said it seems to agree with what i am seeing is...

    Charging with the Alt.

We have 13.9 from alt POS. Batt show 12.6 prior to start then stays at 12.3 after start. When Alt kicks in the voltage at both banks stays at 12.3 and goes down with more DC load applied. It does not come back up. When RPM gets to 1200 the Alt output goes from ~12.2 to 13.8-13.9 amp gauge...

    Charging with the Alt.

Thank you. To answer some questions above. Have checked voltage at house and start batts with no increase in voltage. The selector switch is on but no increase of voltage when the alt kick in. Have not found the orange wire going to the batt switch. But see that it runs up behind the dash...

    Charging with the Alt.

Ok my brain is not working today. Came down to troubleshoot the alternator. The alt puts out 13.9v at the positive orange wire and the amp and volt gauges all show an increase but the start and house batteries are not getting charged by the alt with the engine or engines running. Each alt...

    Genset while underway

Thank you all for the answers. We do have an inverter but it is not wired for the stove/oven. The other reason for asking about running underway was as a back up should an alternator fail we would have a back up way to charge batteries while heading to a port. Guess i will give it a try and...

    Genset while underway

My genset is in the stern as is the pickup for the genset. It has the mushroom pickup and is an Onan 7.5. What do you all think of a genset running at cruise of say 7-9kts. We would only need this for say christmas lights or maybe baking underway. We have a twin engine and I was wondering...

    Cummins 555

Hello Terry I too have the V555M. Recently purchased a boat with them. So far no problems and they seem to be healthy engines. I will say they are older engines but parts are around but may take a few days to get. I just purchased all the manuals from cummins for the v555. Which 555 are you...

    Start Battery setups

Thanks for your answers. I think that two type 31s for the engines with the abilty to parallel them might be the best. The house bank has 4 trojan 105s which can also start the mains if need be Wish i could find the MCA for the mains. They are 555ci, 8.1 liter mains (Does anyone have the...

Hello trying to find out how big of a battery i should have to start my mains. So far i dont see a requirement in the engine manual, but will look a 3rd time.... The current set up is one that i don't like as it would seem to be "bigger is best because we did no know better" mind set that was...

    Ocean Alexander 43

We have a 1983 OA and so far we are very happy with the boat. We brought the boat before the start of summer. Overall OA seems to have done a good job on the build. The boat is solid, very heavy compared to the numbers you see listed on spec sheets. every thru hull has a bronze shut off even...

    Cummins vt555

We have the v555M and just purchased the boat this summer. 215hp @3000. We had to think long and hard before we purchased this boat due to the 555. Everyone told me to stay away from the 555. But i did not listen. Some part are hard to come by. I have spent many hours looking for parts just...
