    What to cook?

Hey Marty, good to hear from you too. Gotta love a good tomato pie! That's one of my favorites. Add that to the list!

    What to cook?

Whatever I feel like cooking that night or what looks good to me at the grocery. How about grilled seasoned bacon wrapped pork tenderloin, fried apples and baked sweet potatoes? That might be on my menu tonight. Or maybe cedar planked salmon. Ok, now I gotta go to the store.

    Broker travel expenses

I would not be paying for my brokers travel expenses. I would expect him to setup my inspection with the listing broker. He would be welcome to come if he wanted but I would also tell him it wasn't necessary. Is there a reason you need him there?

42' Hatteras LRC vs 42' Grand Banks

My 48' Hatteras LRC is all 12 volt. And my 453's are quiet, don't leak, run great and get great fuel economy. I was looking at Nordhavn 46', Krogen 42 and 48's and chose my Hat. I'm very happy I did.

Dauntless on its way to Bonaire

I hope he likes to dive. Love that place.

Type of Dingy, Inflatable or NOT?

12' Rigid Boat. Best dingy I enter had. I've had sailing dinghies that I never sailed and ribs that I always had to maintain air pressure. This one has all the benefits I liked about the rib but it has storage in the tubes, performs better and is easier to maintain.

    Sold boat maybe

You already have a signed agreement and agreed to a $1000 deposit. It appears that an acceptable oil sample is part of the agreement as is a later close date to accommodate that sample. Two weeks sounds very reasonable for an out of town buyer who already has skin in the game but an additional...

    KK42, GB42, DeFever 44: Help me decide

Yes, but if his budget is $250 for the boat he likely won't be comfortable with the new install cost of these. You would be much better off finding a boat with stabilizers installed on someone else's dime. But at $250 it might be tough to do if you also want a pristine example that has been...

How do you use your generator?

I have a 17KW Onan in a soundshield with underwater exhaust that you can barely hear inside or outside the boat. During summer we keep the boat closed up to keep the mosquitoes out. I normally run it from dock to dock. It gets real hot here and we don't have an ocean breeze. I have four...

Do rail mounted grills make a mess?

That's what I had on my last boat. I use a Big Green Egg now but if I wanted propane that's what I would have gotten again. That's an awesome grill and performs way better than the Magmas I've had in the past.

Do rail mounted grills make a mess?

I have a BGE Minimax aboard. Works great. Not much bigger than others mentioned here, you just can't rail mount it.

    best trawler engine

Ya know I kept hearing about the noise, vibration and propensity to leak oil of the Detroit 453's while I was considering and shopping for LRC's. I couldn't have been more surprised at how smooth, clean and quiet they were in the boat I bought. They don't burn or leak hardly any oil, way less...

How Do You Keep Your Boat Cool In The Summer

I keep two of my four units, the salon and one SR set on humidity control. If you are having to replace your unit, I'd buy one with that capability and use it.

Defever 44 vs. Kadey Krogen 39

Gotcha. Seems I read a lot that my little 453's were loud and leaky too but mine most certainly are not.

Defever 44 vs. Kadey Krogen 39

LOVE my 48' LRC. Really well built and solid. Lots of room and very comfortable. I heard and was concerned about those loud, "singing" Detroits mentioned below but turned out to be way quieter than I expected and very happy with noise level. A lot quieter than either of my Grand Banks. It might...

SatTV -- KVH problems, What is Best?

Hey it's a really tough call but for example, sometimes there is a game on that I won't miss and I don't want to not be on my boat because of it. It also depends how often and what you use your boat for. If you just go to your boat to take it out for an amount of time and then come back and go...

SatTV -- KVH problems, What is Best?

Yeah, well I have to replace mine anyway because it was damaged but I really thought they said something about becoming obsolete in the next couple years. So, yeah it is still working now but I think it's lifetime is somewhat limited.

SatTV -- KVH problems, What is Best?

I am getting ready to replace my Directtv KVH M5. I am told it's soon going to be obsolete anyway. I am deciding between the TV5 and the HD version TV7. I think I was told the TV5 has one coax cable and the TV7 has four. Also something about the TV7 tracking two satellites so you can watch...

    outdoor marine freezer

What do you mean by "little success"? I still have the regular little chest freezer that came with my boat. The previous owner used it for years when he lived on the boat in the Bahamas. It has a Sunbrella cover. Seems to hold up fine.

    Do you like Magma Grills?

I used a little Weber like that on my last trawler and loved it. That is a great little grill.

Forget the great anchor debate, let's debate best coolers.

In what way is the Nu Ice better than frozen water bottles? I've looked at that but my option is free, still keeps everything dry and I can drink it. Does it really stay cold longer?

Forget the great anchor debate, let's debate best coolers.

My dingy is a Rigid Boat made by Frigid Rigid. It is exceptional. The seat is a Frigid Rigid cooler with a pad and backrest. I haven't used it as a cooler yet but can tell you it is exceptionally well made. It is the only fiberglass cooler of all the high end that I know of. Ask me in the summer...

    Dinghy Selection

I think my Rigid is 650 lbs and handled fine with my 1000# Davit. My boat does not notice the weight when loaded just like it does not notice if three guys would be standing there. It also has a big rubber like rub rail so does not damage the mothership upon loading or when tied up alongside...

    Dinghy Selection

Ha! You should have brought it home and surprised her with it. Ya know, when I die I just hope my wife doesn't try to sell all my stuff for what I told her I paid for it. The Whaler is a great little boat. I have an 11' and a Montauk. But that Rigid is the best dingy ever. Even though it's a...

    Dinghy Selection

I have a 12' Rigid Boat and I LOVE it. It looks similar to that Bullfrog boat but better to me. It has 12 cubic feet of storage inside the tubes. It performs better than an inflatable but is rugged like the Whaler. Built in 10 gallon gas tank in the bow to put the weight where I want it. Lots of...
