I've worked on these engines most of my life, not so much in recent years, and although they are not the most fuel efficient diesels compared to current electronic engines, they are incredible engines, as per many comments above, and there are hundreds of thousands of them in service every day...

Do you have more pics of Islanddreamer somewhere I can see? I really want to share your "camper top" use of polycarbonate panels with a friend that has a commercial sternwheeler and is wanting to so similar. Thanks John.

A little follow up to these pics... As of last year...ERMA put Mariah on the bottom of the lagoon, right where you see here here, and that's where she still is and will die. Was really tough dealing with the fact of this but I'm over it now and life goes on. Of course if I'd hit the lottery...
