Prepping to be hauled by truck

I am waiting to hear how it went.

Prepping to be hauled by truck

Georgia to North Carolina is not that far to cruise, seems like a lot of hassle & cost to go by truck.

Prepping to be hauled by truck

Please let me know how the windshield removal went. I wanted to truck my boat to Maine, but I could not get the screws loosened to take it apart, so I,m going to have a nice cruise in June.

    12' fiberglass dinghy options

The “Fatty Knees” also has a spot for an outboard & goes very nicely with a 3 hp.

    12' fiberglass dinghy options

I have an 8’ “Fatty Knees”, I think they make a larger model. It’s the nicest dink I ever had in over 60 years of boating. It is stable & rows very well and has an optional sailing adder. I think it’s also the best looking dink.

    prairie height

I measured my boat from the ground to the top of the front of the bridge, which is the highest point. The windshield would have to come off to get it to 14’. That is the problem I have. There are no visible screws that hold the windshield down to the bridge coming. I figured that The screws that...

John, How did you remove the windshield? Is the Prarie, before Atlantic took it over lower?

    prairie height

I wanted to truck my 1983 Atlantic/Prarie 30 LRC, but I could not get the screws that hold the windshield together to budge, so I could not remove it. Even with the windshield removed, according to my measurements it would be about 14’ High & when loaded on a low bed truck15’, the maximum...

    Why are these here?

The picture Benthic2 posted is my boat. We bought it 2 years ago. Any other Prairie 30 owners have these screws❓

    Why are these here?

I think Benthic2 is correct ❗️ They are for the flux capacitor❗️❗️

    Why are these here?

Thanks for all your wonderful, thoughtful replies ❗️ ?. The cockpit is really small with not too much room to mount anything external. The boarding ladder is off to the starboard side of the cockpit. They were probably put there for something ❗️The job was well done, perfect alignment, and very...

    Why are these here?

Doesn't look like there was ever anything there. Not the right place for davits.

    Why are these here?

There are 2 sets of 4 screws in my aft cockpit bulkhead. They have nothing that they are holding inside the bulkhead. Why were they put here?

    Markings on steps?

    Thank you for your information.

    Markings on steps?

There is no manufactures plack on my boat that I can find & I was wondering if the 5 could be my hull #. I also think it could be a part # for the step. Is the hull # part of the # stamped on the transom?

    Markings on steps?

I found these markings on the steps down to the galley on my 1983 Atlantic/Prarie 30 LRC: 30-5S 2 (see picture). Could it mean the boat is the 30’ model & is hull # 5? The S is elongated, could be an 8? and the 2 is like when you square. A #. Does anyone know what it could mean?

    Fly bridge windshield removal

I have a 1983 Atlantic/Prarie 30 with a bridge that has a windshield. I may have to remove the windshield. I don’t see any screws or bolts visible, either outside or inside, under the windshield. Does anyone know how the windshield is secured? The windshield has joints that are screwed...

    8mph 8mph 8mph

Nobody has mentioned the formula for hull speed for displacement boats = 1.34X the square root of your waterline.
