    Twin Diesels versus single

Location/cruising grounds matter, I suppose. We were looking at a boat we both really liked, but with a 6.5" draft, had to rule it out because of where we plan to cruise. How isolated/remote you are certainly should factor into the equation between single or twins.

What boat are you looking at?

My buddy in Largo txt'ed. Said his house is ok, although the power is out. Sure hope we're done with this for the season. I'm tired of seeing crashed boats and flooded towns.

I had to look it up. According to researchers, China has the largest carbon footprint, contributing 33.88% of the world's carbon pollution, followed by the USA at 12%. Surprisingly, India only contributes 4.3%.

Why on earth would anybody want to ride that out on a barrier island? They are lucky to be alive!

I know Scott and his wife were at Trawlerfest showing a boat, then at another marina in Baltimore for a few days afterwards dealing with another 43e. I'm not sure, but I think he was also at another show the following week, so he's been traveling and showing a lot recently. Maybe that explains...

I guess we'll know more as they day goes on, but it looks like it could have been much worse. I've got a friend who lives in Largo. I'll be interested to hear how he faired in the next few days. He's 35 ft above sea level and a bit inland. They got a lot of rain and wind.

That's awesome! Your 46 isn't even here yet and it's already done a delivery mission!

I don't have one, but I've heard nothing but good reports from several Helmsman owners about Scott and his team. What problems are you having?

I really feel for you guys. I'm hoping for the best. Hopefully the eye will go south of St. Pete and send the surge into less populated areas.

For sale: 2024 Helmsman 38 Sedan

I saw this boat at Trawlerfest. It's really nice. Someone is going to end up with a very nice boat.

    North Pacific NP64

No. I saw a very impressive NP45 at Trawlerfest though. The owners had made some really cool customizations including moving the transom back a few inches to add more cockpit space. They lost a bit of the swim platform, but a worthwhile tradeoff for the way I'd use the boat.

POLL - Anchor-outs vs Cruisers - should permanent anchor-outs be restricted in ICW/AICW anchorages?

I don't currently have a dog in the fight, however, IMHO, if they are discharging waste close to the shore, they should be stopped. That's not sanitary nor civilized.

    Dragging Anchor

Maybe just coincidence, but I've noticed the weatherman seems wrong a lot more these days than I remember even a few years ago.

Can't speak for Jeff, but we use ours for a bunch of things, although heating liquids isn't one of them. It does replace a lot of different gadgets in the kitchen, including the oven. Here's a screen shot of ours, it'll show you all the things it does.

Thanks. Backpacks, suitcases, saddle bags, a locker in the berth, makes no difference IMHO. What matters is that we are out doing it, experiencing and living life to the fullest. That means different things to different folks, and, to me, as long as we're doing it, that's the best life we can live.

Off topic, please forgive me. Do you think propane on a boat is a risk? I know many have been doing it for a long time. I love gas for cooking, but was thinking, since we'll be getting a decent sized genny for the HVAC anyway, probably best to avoid the risk and hassle of having to refill. Heck...

We have a Breville smart oven in the house. I barely use my regular over at all after getting it. We absolutely love it and would highly recommend.

I guess it has to do with your personality type. At least IMHO. In 2005, I sold a business. Not enough to retire, but I had some freedom to take some time. Technology had basically rendered my business obsolete and I got out somewhat lucky. I knew I had to reboot. Problem was I had no idea what...

    Boater’s evolution

It's interesting to read other's journey and how they got to where they are today. Personally, I had a 32' Bayliner express cruiser and a 17" Donzi runabout back in the day. Mainly used as a weekender, although sometimes I'd pack my work into a bag and go work from the boat. I loved it. Somehow...
