RE: Fuel use. Upkeep. A smaller boat to learn and get my feet wet in a few hours a week wouldnt use too much fuel. Im just concerned for the long distance trips in the future. 6000 miles on the Great Loop, 500 miles a month at 1gpm vs 3gpm vs 5gpm can be a huge difference in total costs. I have...

    1972 Bluewater 40

Chertrude... What did you come up with?? I saw an 85 42' Sport Fisher/Trawler locally. Luved the layout!! While investigating them. They have ALL kinds of options and motors available. The local one had big DD V8s and No engine bay room. But another had twin Yanmars but no pic or model listed.

Rsn48. In Mn we have some Very strict shoreline rules and laws in place. Kinda why I have been hoping to find an Old old farm site with some sort of docking site on a river. Slowgoesit.. lot of info! In Mn they can get pretty permit happy but not too hard to just follow the rules, find the...

Yep. I mainly went to tour it and get an idea of its layout. Like the very tight engine bay with big V8s. The rest is actually Really nice! (Layout. Not condition.) I Like the teak everywhere inside. Fiberglass decking. Things like that. But as you and Firehose said 'another will be along'... ;)

Firehoser/Northern spy/others What is your opinion of rebuilding a sunk or otherwise salvaged boat? I have seen a lot of threads (here, passage, etc) about abandoned/sunk/too $$$ to fix boats in various spots around the country, just for hauling them away. Once I sell and go RVing; I will have...

I found a pic of one out of the water. it IS a really shallow hull design. I was hoping it might be more like the older Bluewater Pilot house trawlers from the 70's. Still going to check it over. LOL Thanks for pointing that out. :o

Rgano- thanks for the info! Fuel use is a big factor in my opinion! Whats your opinion of one vs two engines? I like the safety factor of Two. But simplicity of One. I'll look into the depth and hull info on it. From my research (not much to find) they made them all 'semi' custom and came in...

Firehoser & 007. Those are the pointers I am looking for. I stopped at Silver Bay Marina a few weeks ago (allowed to walk the docks, not a locked and gated area) and chatted with a few owners about why they chose thier boats and pointers on liveaboard. A few trawler types to look at. Im still...
